Queens NY, August 11, 2010 – NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo,  Jr., Chair of the Senate Elections Committee, is sponsoring a series of Town Hall Meetings for Voting Machine Demonstrations around his district to help familiarize Queens voters with the introduction of the new optical scan voting machines in the primary elections next month.  Admission is free.

ADDABBO: GOVERNOR SIGNS BILL THAT POLLING PLACES BE SITUATED DIRECTLY ON A PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION ROUTE

Legislation Amends Election Law

Queens, NY, September 3, 2010 – NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr., Chair of the Senate’s Elections Committee, reports that the Governor David Paterson has signed a bill, that was prime sponsored by Addabbo, which provides that “polling places, whenever practicable, shall be designated directly on a public transportation route”.  The new law was signed August 30 and is effective immediately.

Queens, NY, September 15, 2010 – "As chair of the State Senate’s Elections Committee, I intend to discuss with the Board of Elections the issues and concerns expressed to me by voters and poll workers regarding the new voting machines used on Primary Day. I believe we all anticipated some issues, since these new machines were being used for the first time ever by millions of registered voters throughout New York State. Now we must find practical solutions so that our voters have an efficient and reliable General Election in November."

SENATOR ADDABBO TO ADDRESS PRIMARY DAY VOTING PROBLEMS

Election Committee Hearing to Identify Solutions  Queens, NY – Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr., (D-Howard Beach) Chair of the NY State Senate Election Committee is working with the New York City Board of Elections to address issues with new voting machines that came to light in Tuesday’s primary election.  Problems setting up the machines and late delivery of equipment keys caused some polling places to open late, and delays in signing in voters at others.
