First and foremost, the package calls for a ban on hydrofracking.
I have stood against the process of hydraulic fracturing since it was brought to my attention in 2009, and remain opposed to this practice for the detrimental effects are great andnumerous in such states as Pennsylvania, which had adopted hydraulicfracturing operations several years prior. I have cosponsored S.5592,which suspends hydraulic fracturing for the extraction of natural gas oroil, and prohibits the issuance of new permits for the drilling of a wellutilizing the practice of hydraulic fracturing, until June 1, 2012.
