ADDABBO: STATEMENT ON SAFETY OF AIRTRAIN & JFK AIRPORT

Queens, NY, April 11, 2011 -- Generally, I have a daily concern for security in and around the JFK Airport property, including the Airtrain. The gateway to millions of visitors to New York is right in our backyard and therefore, my interest in the airport’s safety measures, which are a high priority for me. "I thank the mayor for recognizing the transportation needs of my constituents in the Rockaways and also for acknowledging the economic potential the Peninsula holds. I have said and will say again, a ferry service is the Rockaways most viable transportation option and can bring great economic advantages. Including the Rockaways as part of a citywide ferry system to me makes it a more secure service that will hopefully continue permanently.

STATE SENATOR JOSEPH P. ADDABBO, JR. STATEMENT ON STATE OF THE CITY ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE ROCKAWAYS

"The Mayor's announcements regarding the Rockaways gives me hope the Peninsula can emerge from decades of isolation stronger than ever. It is high time oru city make use of the area's untapped economic, commercial potential. Infrastructure upgrades are necessary to keep our community safe from any future storms and to also assure new residents that residing in the Rockaways is a one-of-a-kind experience. A ferry service is the icing on that cake -- if the Peninsula is accessible, it is desirable.
