Minute with Marchione: “World Down Syndrome Day”

State Senator Kathy Marchione (R,C,I-Halfmoon), Chair of the Senate’s Local Government Committee, announced passage of her legislative resolution recognizing March 21, 2015, as “Down Syndrome Awareness Day” for New York State. Senator Marchione’s resolution was passed unanimously during yesterday’s Senate Session and was opened up to all of her colleagues for co-sponsorship. Senator Marchione also spoke on her resolution during today’s Session.

“Down Syndrome is more than just an issue for me; it’s personal. My great-nephew, Nathan, has Down Syndrome. He is a wonderful, incredible boy and one of the bright, shining lights of our family’s life. It is in Nathan’s name that I am proud to sponsor this resolution and promote this important cause,” Senator Marchione said.
