SENATOR LAVALLE ANNOUNCES SMALL BUSINESS LOAN AVAILABILITY

Senator Kenneth P. LaValle today announced that minority and women-owned enterprises, as well as other small businesses throughout the state, now have the opportunity to access funding that will help them improve or sustain their operations.   The 2010-11 budget provides a $50 million Small Business Revolving Loan Fund for owners that are experiencing difficulty obtaining capital through traditional credit markets.

Good News on Horizon: Business, Technology and Academic Partnerships Will Drive Economy, Create Jobs. Two Projects to Launch, Council Planned.

As the state wrestles with passing an on-time budget, marked by painful cuts to close a $10 billion budget gap,  Long Island could be getting good news this Spring when two components in New York State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle’s Innovation Highway are set to get underway.

LaValle says that the engine to drive the creation of new jobs and boost the economy is right in our backyard. “This Spring,” LaValle said, “two projects, The Stony Brook University Incubator at Calverton and The Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center are scheduled to bloom.” The projects are part of LaValle’s Innovation Highway – a tech corridor stretching from The Stony Brook University Incubator at Calverton to North Shore Hospital in Manhasset .

Agricultural Consumer Science Center Breaks Ground

October 24, 2011 – Nearly one year after announcing the open bidding process for the construction of a new Agriculture Consumer Science Center (ACSC) at the Stony Brook University Calverton Business Incubator, Stony Brook University President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D., will be joined by Senator Kenneth P. LaValle and other local dignitaries on Monday, October 24 to celebrate the groundbreaking and construction advancement of the planned Center. The project expected completion date is summer 2012.

Business Council Rates LaValle Tops for Commitment to Improving State’s Economy

The Business Council of New York State released its 2011 Voters’ Guide, which measures New York State legislators’ "commitment to improving the state’s economic climate and performance by scoring their support for key business legislation during the 2011 session.”

New York State Senator Ken LaValle, (R - Port Jefferson), received the council’s highest score.

“Working with Governor Cuomo to enact real fiscal reform, spending restraint and significant economic development initiatives this past session and next,  I remain committed to making our state economy more competitive, which will act as a stimulus for job creation,” Senator LaValle said.
