Senator Kenneth P. LaValle called the closing of New York State Parks “the wrong strategy at the wrong time. It is a bad move, particularly in tough economic times when ‘staycations’ are quickly becoming the only affordable getaway for many of our residents.
“The possible closing of New York State Parks is the wrong strategy at the wrong time. We are struggling through tough economic times and our local parks are often the only affordable getaway for many residents.
“I am extremely frustrated that the Governor vetoed legislation I sponsored in the Senate to create the Edwin (Buzz) M. Schwenk Memorial Preserve. Buzz Schwenk’s was a staple of East End politics and truly deserving of praise.
