Senator Ken LaValle Releases Highlights of Last Night’s Senate Budget Resolution

Albany, March 14, 2014 - Senator Ken LaValle reports that last night, the New York State Senate passed their Budget Resolution to address the priorities of Long Island families.  The document now becomes the framework for budget negotiations with the Assembly.

Senator LaValle released the following highlights of the Budget Resolution. The proposal:

Reduces taxes on hardworking families, small businesses and manufacturers, while keeping overall spending growth below two percent

Albany, March 11, 2014 - Today, on behalf of the anxious students and frustrated parents and teachers I represent, I will oppose all four of the Regents the Assembly brought before us for a vote.  I cannot and will not accept the status quo from the Board of Regents- the group responsible for the flawed implementation of the Common Core Learning Standards – who seem to have turned a deaf ear on the demand of so many to delay the implementation process.

Senator Ken LaValle: “Public Assistance Integrity Act” to be voted on in Senate next week

Today, Senator Ken LaValle reported that the “Public Assistance Integrity Act” (Senate Bill S966) will come before the Senate for a vote next week.  The Act, which Senator LaValle sponsored, prohibits the use of public assistance for purchasing alcoholic beverages, tobacco or lottery tickets.  Additionally, the Legislation would prohibit withdrawal of public assistance monies at certain locations, specifically, liquor stores, casinos, and adult-oriented establishments.
