SENATOR PARKER OFFERS FREE FLU SHOTS TO SENIORS AND CHILDREN

Brooklyn, NY-  Yesterday, Senator Kevin Parker and event sponsors Citi Home Helath Care Services and WellCare, provided free influenza vaccinations for seniors and children in his district as part of a broad-reaching effort to keep his constituents and Brooklyn residents healthy. More than 50 free flu shots were administered by certified nurse practitioners from Walgreen’s Pharmacy.

Senate Unanimously Passes Senator Parker's Bill to Protect Mentally Disabled Persons Living in Community Residences

(Brooklyn, NY) – In a unanimous vote on Tuesday May 6, State Senator Kevin Parker’s bill, S.955, passed the Senate. The bill clarifies that the discharge of a resident from a community residence licensed or operated by the Office of Mental Health (OMH) or the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) shall not be considered a landlord / tenant matter, as opposed to be governed by regulations aimed at creating the best therapeutic outcome for such a resident.

Senator Parker, Legislators and Veterans Groups Advocate for Bill to Guarantee Veteran Amputees Latest Prosthetic Technology

(Brooklyn, NY) – Yesterday, Senator Kevin Parker joined Assemblyman Marcos A. Crespo and veterans groups advocate to announce their bill, A6820/S5390, which clarifies that amputee veterans who have lost a limb due to their military service, and who have private insurance to supplement their Veterans Administration benefits, cannot be denied replacement of their outdated artificial limbs when new and more advanced prosthetic technology is available.

SENATOR PARKER HOSTS ANNUAL BACK-TO-SCHOOL GIVEAWAY FOR 600 SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES

Brooklyn, NY – For the seventh consecutive year, State Senator Kevin Parker and Sesame Flyers International, Inc., hosted Harvest Fest – an end-of-summer /  back-to-school celebration for Brooklyn families at Paerdegat Park on Saturday, September 6, 2014. Over 500 families came out for the event which included face painting, games, fitness and nutrition resources and CPR instruction to children and their parents.
