Senator Kevin Parker Names As Honorary Fellow Of The Alpha Chapter Of The Pi Eta Kappa Honor Society

Brooklyn, NY – In recognition of the leadership that he provides as a member of the New York State legislature, Senator Parker was formally inducted as an Honorary Fellow of The  Alpha Chapter of the Pi Eta Kappa Honor Society at Medgar Evers College. The annual ceremony which celebrates the academic achievement and membership in the Honor Society of urban male student-scholars at Medgar Evers College was organized in conjunction   with the College’s Male Development and Empowerment Center.

Today is yet another sad day in New York City as the officers accused in the Sean Bell killing are acquitted of all charges. It is another day of outrage. It is difficult to comprehend how police officers in New York City can continue to blur the line between protection and destruction of black men and yet have justice turn a blind eye. The shooting of Sean Bell is more than an injustice to his family and fiancée – it is an indictment against the entire black community.

Free Mlk Concert Hosted By State Senator Kevin Parker A Huge Success In Brooklyn

Brooklyn, NY – A 101-year-old grandmother was among a diverse group of constituents who read Dr. King’s "I Have A Dream" Speech at a special tribute on Monday that was hosted by State Senator Kevin Parker (D-21). More than two thousand patrons attended the "Shared Dream" concert at Brooklyn College which celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On what would have been his 79th birthday.

In his continued efforts to spread holiday joy to the children of the 21st Senate District, State Senator Kevin Parker hosted his 4th annual Toy Giveaway Day at his East Flatbush district office. More than 40 families were the beneficiaries of the 350 toys donated by Health Plus, Forest City Ratner, COCOAChiC Beauty, Build-A-Bear, Inc., and Macy’s. "As elected officials we spend so much of our time on policy and other issues that it is always a welcomed opportunity to take time out to be with the kids," Senator Parker said.

Free Mammogram For Women Of The 21st District

Doing his part to promote healthy living, State Senator Kevin hosted a day of free mammograms at his district office located in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn. With the aid of the health mobile bus unit, more than 20 women were facilitated in taking the test that can save lives with the early detection of breast cancer. Women over the age of 40 who have not had a mammogram in the past year were encouraged to take advantage of this excellent opportunity by making appointments and taking the test.

The turkeys, each individually wrapped, were donated by Health Plus and Forest City Ratner. Brooklyn, NY – In the face of mounting anti-immigrant sentiments nationwide and the absence of a comprehensive immigration reform plan by the federal government, more than 100 "green card" holders in Brooklyn grasped at the opportunity to become United States citizens. The occasion was a citizenship assistance campaign hosted by State Senator Kevin Parker in conjunction with the Citizenship and Immigration Project of CUNY.
