Senator Lee Zeldin & Assemblyman Dean Murray Honor Fallen Local FDNY Hero

Farmingville, N.Y. – State Senator Lee M. Zeldin (R, C, I- Shirley) and Assemblyman Dean Murray (R, C- East Patchogue) honored fallen local FDNY hero, Lieutenant Richard Nappi, this past Saturday, October 13, 2012, by dedicating the North Ocean Ave Bridge over the Long Island Expressway as the FDNY Lt Richard Nappi Memorial Bridge during a ceremony at the Farmingville Fire Department.

Lt. Nappi, who was also a volunteer with the Farmingville Fire Department and a top instructor at the Suffolk County Fire Academy in Yaphank, is survived by his wife Mary Anne, his daughter Catherine, and son Nicholas. In 1995, he was honored as a hero for pulling his fellow firefighters out of danger during the height of the Long Island wildfires.

Senator Lee Zeldin Joins Amneal Pharmaceuticals in Announcing Plans to Expand Yaphank Facility

Yaphank, N.Y. – State Senator Lee M. Zeldin (R, C, I- Shirley) joined Empire State Development (ESD) Commissioner Ken Adams, and Amneal Pharmaceuticals’ CEO Chintu Patel this past Friday, June 15, 2012, to announce Amneal’s plans to expand their facility located in Yaphank.

Amneal was awarded $3 million through Governor Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council Initiative in 2011 to assist the company in their expansion which will bring critical high-tech jobs to Suffolk County. Amneal is one of Long Island’s largest pharmaceutical companies and the proposed expansion will help strengthen the region’s position as a leader in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceutical research.

Senator Lee Zeldin Recognized by Central Islip School District for Restoration of Vital Building Aid

Central Islip, N.Y. – State Senator Lee M. Zeldin (R, C, I- Shirley) was recognized by the Central Islip School District this past Saturday, April 28, 2012, for his efforts in securing $36.6 million in vital building aid in the 2012-13 State Budget, previously promised to the district.

Due to paperwork delays of a previous school district administration, the State Education Department had insisted Central Islip pay back almost $14 million in aid already received and spent, while also refusing to release approximately $28 million that Central Islip had expected going forward. Working closely with Superintendent Craig Carr, Assemblyman Phil Ramos (D- Central Islip), and Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senator Zeldin was able to secure an agreement to prevent this from happening.

Medford, NY- Senator Lee Zeldin (R, C, I- Shirley) and Assemblyman Dean Murray (R, C- East Patchogue) presented The New York State Senate Veteran Hall of Fame Memorial in honor of Medal of Honor recipient Lt. Michael Murphy to the Patchogue-Medford High School this past Thursday, March 8, 2012. Lt. Murphy, a Navy SEAL who gave his life while fighting in Afghanistan, was also a graduate of Patchogue-Medford High School.
