Join the Fight: Sign up to Dump the MTA Tax

On June 15, 2011, the Senate passed my MTA Payroll Tax repeal legislation (S.5596-A/A.8193-A) with a bi-partisan vote, 40-22.

The job-killing MTA Tax represents one of the worst ideas Albany has ever come up with. I originally promised, if elected, to secure passage in the Senate of a repeal of the MTA Payroll Tax and I did that this legislative session, with a very responsible plan.

Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver would not allow a vote on this bill in the State Assembly, despite bi-partisan sponsorship in his house. He is obviously not looking out for the best interests of Suffolk County taxpayers.

I Support “The Specialist Thomas Wilwerth Military Dignity Act”

Specialist Wilwerth was an Iraq War Veteran who lost his life in combat in 2006. This act will prohibit protests within 2,500 feet of military services, funerals, and processions of deceased service members unless the protest organizers post a bond to the local municipality to defray the increased security costs associated with demonstrations that occur closer to these funeral activities. In no case would protesters be permitted within 500 feet.  The protestors will also have to apply for a permit with the New York Division of Military and Naval Affairs.  This legislation lets our Gold Star families know that we are fighting for them so they can bury their loved ones with the dignity, respect and honor that they deserve.

Join the Fight to Restore Your Right to Fish for Free

We shouldn’t have to pay for something that we have always enjoyed for free.  That is why I have introduced S.3638, which repeals the Saltwater Fishing License Fee.

Join the Fight to Require a 'Super-Majority' Vote to Raise Taxes and Fees

Taxes are the most important issue plaguing the Third Senate District, Long Island and New York State.  In the past two years, the New York State Legislature has increased taxes and fees by $14 billion.  Raising taxes should be a last resort, not a first option.
