Statement from Senator Lee M. Zeldin: Anniversary of September 11th

“On this Anniversary of September 11th, 2001, our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who lost their lives on that fateful day. Not only was 9/11 a day where the worst of human nature maliciously terrorized our great nation, it was also one where the best of our humanity shined through. Americans do not cower in the face of evil and adversity.

That is exactly what we saw on September 11, 2001, when the heroes of the FDNY and NYPD selflessly stormed the burning towers in an effort to save the lives of their fellow New Yorkers, many of them sacrificing their own in the process.

Lower Taxes + Balanced Budgets = More Jobs

Before Andrew Cuomo became our Governor and Lee Zeldin became our Senator, Albany raised taxes by $14 billion and increased state spending by $14 billion in 2009 and 2010.

Partnering with Governor Cuomo, Senator Zeldin helped pass two on-time budgets that closed a $13 billion budget deficit by cutting spending, instead of creating new taxes.

By controlling wasteful spending, Senator Zeldin was able to cut state income taxes on middle income families to the lowest level in 50 years.

Senator Zeldin also capped local property taxes for overburdened homeowners.

It’s a simple formula:

By reducing state spending and cutting taxes, Senator Lee Zeldin is working to turn around Long Island’s economy and create jobs.
