New York— Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer released a report today outlining major problems with the city's Industrial and Commercial Incentive Program (ICIP).  The report calls for wholesale reform of a program that cost the City $409.5 million in lost tax revenue in fiscal year 2007, much of which went to supporting Midtown commercial real estate, fast food restaurants, gas stations, and chain retail stores.

(Albany, NY) The New York State Senate Democratic Conference today called for the Governor and State Legislators, both Republican and Democrat, to take action before the end of session and approve new Brownfields legislation that will speed-up neighborhood clean-up projects statewide.

At stake, are nearly $1 billion in state tax credits and $40 million in state-funded community planning grants that can be used to help reclaim thousands of polluted sites in urban, suburban, rural, industrial, and residential areas across New York state if action isn't taken now.

On "Reform Day" State Senator Liz Krueger (D-Manhattan) called for redistricting reform through passage of S.487, a bill she co-sponsors along with State Senator John Bonacic (R-Mount Hope).

Albany—State Senator Liz Krueger (D-Manhattan) offered a motion to petition today to bring a bill, the Food Service Waste Reduction Act (S6402), to the floor for a vote of the full Senate. The bill is designed to lead to a statewide phase-out of all polystyrene (Styrofoam) products used in the food service industry.  Senator Krueger's motion was defeated along party lines with Republican unanimously opposing it.

Assembly Member Brian Kavanagh carries the “same-as” in that chamber.
