Senate Passes the Family Health Care Decisions Act Empowering Families and Loved Ones to Make Important Health Care Decisions
(ST. ALBANS, NY)- Today, the New York State Senate passed (S3164) the Family Health Care Decisions Act (FHCDA), empowering family members and others to make critical medical decisions on behalf of an incapacitated loved one.
(Albany, NY) State Sen. Malcolm Smith (D-Hollis) met with over 25 members of the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) to discuss two bills affecting healthcare, both of which the lawmaker supports. The Safe Patient Handling Act (S.1123) would establish a statewide safe patient handling policy for health care facilities in the state, and creates the New York State safe patient handling work group.
Thank you to all of those who participated in the New York State Senate's fist ever online Town Hall. Since we're always striving to serve the people of New York better, and this was our first attempt at an event like this, we would appreciate your feedback on how we can improve the experience.
