(St. Albans, NY)-Senator Malcolm A. Smith is calling on General Electric (GE) to bring more jobs to New York. GE recently signed a letter of intent with China South Locomotive & Rolling Stock Corporation Limited (CSR) to manufacture high- and medium-speed electric multiple unit trains in the United States.
(St. Albans, NY)- State Senator Malcolm A. Smith is calling on Queens District Attorney Richard Brown and the New York City Police Department (NYPD) to institute another Gun Buy-Back Program in Queens.
(St. Albans, NY)- Senator Malcolm A. Smith held his first Operation Safe Southeast Queens (OSSEQ) meeting for 2011. The meeting consisted of representatives from the offices of Southeast Queens elected officials, local police precincts, the Queens District Attorney’s office, community and civic leaders, clergy and concerned citizens. Through the communication and relationships established at the monthly meeting, Senator Smith and his staff have been effective at targeting traditional “hot spots” and increasing police surveillance thereby curtailing drug activity, prostitution and other issues brought to their attention at the meeting. “Preventing crime and keeping my constituents safe is always my first priority.
“As a nation, we have the moral responsibility to care for the brave 9/11 rescue workers who so tirelessly participated in the rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero and as a result have suffered illness or injury. “I am pleased that Congress was able to work together to pass this vital legislation to provide much needed funding for medical treatment for these brave men and women. “I applaud Presided Obama and our Senators, Chuck Schumer and Kristin Gillibrand, and Representatives Carolyn Maloney and Jerrold Nadler, for their commitment to the passage of this critical bill."
