Senator Grisanti Names Joseph Ruszala ‘Veterans Hall of Fame’ 2014 Inductee

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) today announced that Joseph Ruszala of Hamburg was honored in Albany  this week, as part of a ceremony that recognizes military veterans of New York being named to this year’s class of the New York State Senate’s Veterans Hall Of Fame.

Grisanti Sponsored Bill To Protect Children Passes New York State Senate

Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) announced that the New York State Senate today passed the "Protect Our Children Act," a bill he sponsored which would create the new crime of aggravated murder of a child with a sentence of life in prison without parole.

 

The bill (S1721B) would expand an existing law of aggravated abuse of a child which makes it a crime when someone recklessly causes physical injury to a child under the age of 14.

Grisanti's Bill Establishes Green Development Home Tax Exemption For Erie County

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) today announced the passage of a bill that establishes a green development home tax exemption for local property owners, making an amendment of the state's real property tax law for property located within Erie County.

 

The legislation is expected to facilitating growth in the green home market by offering an incentive for homes that typically cost more than the average new home.

Land Conservancy Awarded $49,700 from Conservation Partnership Program Grants

On Thursday, April 24, Governor Cuomo announced $1.4 million
in Conservation Partnership Program grants for 50 nonprofit land trusts across
the state. Representatives of the Department of Environmental Conservation
(DEC) and the Land Trust Alliance unveiled the grantees at an event at Indian
Ladder Farms in Albany County as part of a weeklong celebration of Earth Day.
The grants, funded through the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF), will be
matched by nearly $1.1 million in private and local funding and will support
projects to enhance public access and recreational opportunities, protect
farmland, and conserve open space.

Grisanti Names Tonawanda Resident Joseph Chudoba 'Veteran Of The Month'

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti recently announced Joseph Gregory Chudoba as the fourth recipient of his "Veteran of the Month" recognition program.

 

Airman First Class Chudoba, a resident of Tonawanda, is the fourth recipient of a monthly honor presented by Senator Grisanti following an application and nomination process coordinated by staff members in Grisanti's veterans liaison office.

Grant For Lighting Upgrades Allows Lake Shore School District To Direct Savings To Educational Programming

A grant from New York State Senator Mark Grisanti will provide perpetual savings to the Lake Shore Central School District and taxpayers.

Senator Mark Grisanti awarded $50,000 in funding to the District in the form of bullet aid for the 2013-14 school year with the designation the funding as being for one-time expenditures. 

“Senator Grisanti’s grant allowed Lake Shore to replace exterior lighting at five facilities in the District, continuing our efforts in energy conservation as well as improving safety and security by increasing visibility on our campuses,” Mr. Przepasniak said.

Grisanti's Bill Designates Pedestrian Bridge In Buffalo As 'Scajaquada 9/11 Memorial Bridge'

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) today announced the passage of a bill that amends the highway law to designate the bridge that crosses over Route 198 into Delaware Park that connects Nottingham Terrace with Hoyt Lake in the City of Buffalo as "Scajaquada 9/11 Memorial Bridge."  The designation of the bridge was spearheaded by community activists who have been working on this project for over three years to have a memorial located in the city honoring people who were killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Senator Mark Grisanti (R,I-60) today announced he is co-sponsoring a bill that would ban the piercing or permanent tattooing of companion animals, pointing out that subjecting pets to body piercing or tattooing are cruel acts that fall under the category of animal abuse.

The month of April is Animal Cruelty Prevention Month.

Animals do not have the ability to make  decisions on whether or not to get a tattoo or body piercing, but we as human beings can do the right thing and make it illegal for pet owners to tattoos or pierce their pets.”

Senate Majority Coalition Announces Joint Task Force On Heroin And Opioid Addiction

Senate Majority Coalition Co-Leaders Dean Skelos and Jeffrey Klein today announced the creation of the Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction to examine the rise in use of heroin and other opioids in New York State and develop recommendations for treating and preventing addiction.The bipartisan task force will be chaired by Senator Phil Boyle (R-C-I, Suffolk County), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.

Innovative Partnership Model Moves Scajaquada Creek Restoration Forward in Forest Lawn

Supported by a $100,000 grant from the New York Economic Development Capital Program, secured by NYS Senator Mark Grisanti, the first step in the efforts to restore Scajaquada Creek has been completed, with the release today of a detailed report on creek habitat and water quality in the 2 ½ mile portion of Scajaquada Creek that daylights and meanders through Forest Lawn.The report is the result of a two-year collaboration between the Forest Lawn Heritage Foundation, Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Senate Budget: 2014-2015 Budget Bolsters EPF, Invests in State Parks and Helps Improve Environmental Infrastructure

The New York State Senate today passed a 2014-15 state budget that helps protect and enhance New York’s natural resources and invests in key environmental initiatives that create jobs, increase tourism, and benefit communities throughout the state. The budget includes a $9 million increase to the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF), bringing the total to $162 million, while also making significant investments in improvements to state park facilities and environmental infrastructure.

Grisanti Announces Over $865,000 For Town of Hamburg From Video Lottery Terminals

Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) today announced that his efforts were successful in obtaining additional funding for the Town of Hamburg in 2014 state budget for hosting the video lottery terminals.

Senator Grisanti was able to secure over $865,679 to the Town of Hamburg and $288,560 to Erie County for a total of $1,154,239.

“I am proud to have been able to secure additional state funding for the Town of Hamburg and increase that total from 2013′s state budget,” said Senator Grisanti. “This is a huge victory for the Town of Hamburg and the extra funding to the Town could be used for a variety of things like continuing to lower taxes, infrastructure or other projects.”

Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) will sponsor a New York State Senate Roundtable,”Domestic Violence: Prevention Starts With You” on Friday, April 4th from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., at the Walter J. Mahoney Building, 65 Court Street in Buffalo, Senate Hearing Room 6.

Grisanti calls on Silver, Assembly to join Senate Republicans in Restoring the Gap Elimination Funding For Schools Across New York State

Senator Mark Grisanti (R,I – Buffalo) called on Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and his Assembly colleagues to join with Senate Republicans to accelerate the restoration of funding lost by school districts under the Gap Elimination Adjustment and eliminate it by the 2016-17.

The Gap Elimination Adjustment is affecting many schools across New York State, especially in Western New York.
