Senator Grisanti delivers increased aid for Western New York school districts

Senator Mark Grisanti (R,I-60) was successful in fighting for increased school aid for school districts located in the 60th Senate District.

The New York State Legislature passed its third consecutive on-time budget which included an increase for every school district located in Senator Grisanti's district.

"Our school districts provide invaluable services here in Western New York and across New York State, and they operate on a tight budget. We must provide the resources necessary to educate our children, keep them in school and ultimately graduate prepared for college or the workforce. We were able to increase school aid across the 60 District, and this will help children receive the resources they need to succeed," said Senator Grisanti.

Senator Grisanti successful in increasing CHIPS funding for his entire district

Senator Mark Grisanti(R,I-60) was successful in his fight to increase CHIPS funding for the 60th Senate District. The New York State Senate today concluded its passage of the 2013-14 state budget that delivers an on time budget with CHIPS (Consolidated Highway Improvement Projects) increases in every single City, Town and Village located in  Senator Grisanti's district. The increase is over $1.162 Million from the previous year.

"I am proud to announce that every City, Town and Village in my district received an increase in CHIPS funding. Since day one it has been about bringing jobs and resources back to Western New York. I will never stop fighting for Western New York," said Senator Mark Grisanti.

Parkside Summer Arts Program

Parkside Community Association

The Parkside Summer Arts Camp is accepting registrations for children ages 5-11. Two sessions are offered, July 8 – 26 and July 29 – August 16. The program runs from 9am – 3pm Monday through Friday at St Mary’s School For the Deaf, 2253 Main Street in Buffalo. New this year, the Camp will offer early drop off and late pick up options for those parents that need to be at work by 9am.

The cost of attending one three week session is $100 per child if the child qualifies for free/reduced school lunch or $225 per child for all other children.

Grisanti and fellow senators speak out for veterans at mental health rally

Advocating for mental health services for veterans, Senator Lee M. Zeldin (R-C-I, Shirley) today addressed the Mental Health Association in New York State (MHANYS) and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) at the Association’s annual legislative lobby day rally in Albany. The gathering of more than 300 mental health experts, advocates and family members, also included dozens of veterans from Suffolk and Nassau Counties.

Amanda Lynn's Law Passed By New York State Senate

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti (R,I,-60) today announced that the New York State Senate has voted to pass Bill S.1590, which makes it a crime to conceal a death by knowingly moving or otherwise hiding a human corpse so that discovery of the death will be hindered.

The bill is sponsored by Senator Grisanti and Amanda Lynn's Law has passed the Senate the past two years.  It will now be sent to the Assembly.

Senator Grisanti Sends Letter to Majority Leader Advocating for Funding to Support the Developmentally Disabled

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti (R,I,-60) a member of the Senate Finance committee today asked his colleagues in the Senate to fully restore approximately $120 million in proposed cuts in funding that supports and services people with developmental disabilities.

Sen. Grisanti and Senate Finance Chair John DeFrancisco believe full restoration of the funding will support New York State's most vulnerable residents.

Senator Grisanti Named Elected Official of the Year by the Southtowns Walleye Association

Senator Mark Grisanti (R,I-60) has been named "Elected Official of the Year" by the Southtowns Walleye Association, the largest single species fishing club in North America.

First Phase of Redevelopment of Richardson Olmsted Complex in Buffalo Announced

Statement on SAFE Legislation

"After numerous negotiations with the Governor and Assembly, we have passed a bipartisan gun safety package that will keep New Yorkers safer in schools, homes and neighborhoods and help curb gun violence by going after criminals who use guns illegally. Highlights of this legislation include increased penalties for criminals who use a gun in the commission of a crime on school grounds or straw purchases.

It also strengthens Kendra’s Law to insure individuals with mental illness to get the treatment they need and those who pose a danger to themselves or others will not be able to legally access to a gun. In addition, this legislation proposes life in prison without parole to anyone who shoots and kills a first responder.
