Sen. Grisanti to Host Listening Session in the City of Tonawanda

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti will host the fourth stop on his “Listening Tour” on Thursday, April 7 at Tonawanda City Hall, located at 200 Niagara Street in Tonawanda.

The event, which will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m., will be an opportunity for constituents to hear from their representative in Albany as Sen. Grisanti speaks about his ideas for reforming state government. Attendees will be able to ask questions and express their concerns about their community.

The event is free and open to the public and will be held at no cost to taxpayers.

The 60th State Senate Distict includes parts of Erie and Niagara counties, including Tonawanda, a portion of the City of Buffalo, the City of Niagara Falls and Grand Island.

City Hall forum addresses range of topics

State Sen. Mark Grisanti on Thursday conducted a town hall meeting on a wide range of issues with about 50 people at Tonawanda City Hall. Grisanti, R-Buffalo, was invited to speak at the request of Tonawanda Councilman Chuck Gilbert. Erie County Legislator Kevin Hardwick, R-City of Tonawanda, also attended the forum to update residents on county issues. Several speakers Thursday questioned Grisanti’s position on hydrofracking. Grisanti said he’s reserving an opinion on it until he reviews the findings of a scientific survey, the results of which he said are expected within the next few months.

Attn Grand Island Residents: Update on Grand Island Bridge project

The New York State Thruway Authority has scheduled work on the Southbound South Grand Island Bridge for 2011 and 2012.

The work involves some additional structural repairs underneath the decking and re-paving of the deck including an overlay similar to the Northbound South Bridge. Currently, the re-paving is planned for the 2012 construction season.   There will be an informational briefing on the extend of the work and the tentative schedule including the maintenance of traffic plans at 9am on Monday, May 9.

The briefing will be made by the Thruway Authority and the project’s consulting engineers. It will take place in the first floor conference room at Grand Island Town Hall, located at 2255 Baseline Road.

Statement By Senator Grisanti Regarding his “Yes” Vote for Same Sex Marriage

“Tonight, I joined my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to legalize same sex marriage in New York State.  Since I began my term as Senator I have met with many people on both sides of this issue, read numerous documents and independent studies.  Given the high stakes, I felt I owed it to everyone to make a well-informed decision.  I have come to believe that all New Yorkers should be entitled to the same 1324 rights that come with a civil marriage.  As an attorney I analyzed the legislation and concluded that the amendments provide critical exemptions for religious institutions.  Passage of this bill now rather than later ensures that these protections be included.  I cannot deny anyone in my district and across New York the same rights I have
