Senate Passes Plan to Create “Recharge NY” Power Program: Bill Would Establish New, Permanent Low-Cost Power Program to Create & Retain Jobs

The New York State Senate voted to pass (S.3164), sponsored by Senator George Maziarz (R-C, Newfane), to create a new, permanent program called “Recharge NY,” that would provide low-cost power to help businesses create and retain jobs.

“ The passage of this legislation will allow more business in my district and across New York access cheaper electricity to create jobs,” said Senator Mark Grisanti.

“The program has been renewed on an annual basis for several years, but we’ve needed a permanent solution so businesses can plot their growth. The passage of this legislation ensures that businesses across New York will have the stability needed to plan long-term,” said Senator George D. Maziarz, Chairman of the Senate Energy and Telecommunications Committee.

2011-12 Home Energy Assistance Program

The 2011-12 Home Energy Assistance Program season is fast approaching. Please review the following information:

The HEAP mail out of “Early Access” applications to Households with Senior Citizen, Disabled, or other vulnerable members, commenced on 8/29/11. The mail out process will take 2-3 weeks. Please advise clients/constituents you speak with to expect an application, and to mail it in as soon as possible. HEAP funding is limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis.
