Senator Grisanti recognizes Michael Lewandowski for being named to Senate’s Veterans’ Hall of Fame

Michael Lewandowski of the City of Tonawanda was recently named to the New York State Senate’s Veterans’ Hall of Fame.

Michael Lewandowski was born in Amherst on December 12, 1982. Michael spent his childhood in Cheektowaga and attended Kenmore West High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in February 2003 after receiving his Associates Degree from Erie Community College in Buffalo. He was sent to boot camp in May 2003 in Parris Island, South Carolina for 13 weeks. After completing his first year of studies at Hilbert College in Hamburg, he completed eight weeks of infantry school at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60) today announced that he is nominating Matthew Mondeoux of the City of Niagara Falls to the New York Senate's Veterans' Hall of Fame.

The New York State Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame was created in 2005 to honor and recognize outstanding veterans from across the Empire State who have distinguished themselves both in military and civilian life. The Hall of Fame provides an expression of our gratitude and admiration for their meritorious service to our nation.

Buffalo, NY— The Veterans One-stop Center of Western New York, Inc., (“One-stop Center” or “VOC of WNY”) announced Tuesday that they will open a “one-stop” veterans advocacy and service center at 1280 Main Street in Buffalo in April.

Advocating for mental health services for veterans, Senator Lee M. Zeldin (R-C-I, Shirley) today addressed the Mental Health Association in New York State (MHANYS) and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) at the Association’s annual legislative lobby day rally in Albany. The gathering of more than 300 mental health experts, advocates and family members, also included dozens of veterans from Suffolk and Nassau Counties.

BUFFALO NEWS: Veterans get one-stop center to deal with needs

With the cutting of a red, white and blue ribbon, the Veterans One-stop Center of Western New York opened for business Monday in Buffalo.

The idea of having a single location with many services to help veterans was years in the making, according to wounded Vietnam War veteran Edward Simmons, who was given the honor of cutting the ceremonial ribbon at the center housed at 1280 Main St.

Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) today announced he has nominated United States Army Captain Roger L. Woodworth as his nominee for the New York State Senate’s 2013 Veterans Hall of Fame Honoree Celebration.

CPT Woodworth will be recognized at a ceremony and luncheon on Tueaday in Albany for his efforts in the military as well as his work as a veteran in Western New York.
