Grisanti Blasts "State Citizenship" For Illegal Immigrants In New York

State Senator Mark Grisanti (R-I, Erie County) today strongly objected to a proposal that would allow undocumented immigrants to become New York state citizens. The bill, sponsored by Senator Gustavo Rivera of the Bronx, would apply to approximately 2.7 million residents of New York. 
 
"This proposal is absurd on its face," declared Grisanti.

Senate Passes Senator Grisanti’s CPR in Schools Bill

The New York State Senate has passed legislation sponsored by Senator Mark Grisanti (R-I, Buffalo) that would enable high school students to be trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated defibrillators (AEDs).

“Schools prepare students with essential life skills, and CPR skills are among the most critical lifesaving skills that make our communities safer, year after year,” Senator Grisanti said. “It takes only a few minutes to teach CPR. Sixteen states are now ensuring students learn CPR prior to graduation and it’s time to add New York to the list.

"Phoenix's Law Passes In New York State Senate

Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) today announced the passage of "Phoenix's Law" in the State Senate. This legislation would increase certain penalties for aggravated cruelty to animals and is urging his colleagues in the New York State Assembly to pass this important piece of legislation. This is the second consecutive year that Senator Grisanti has sponsored and passed "Phoenix's Law" in the State Senate.

Senator Grisanti Will Co-Sponsor Medical Marijuana Legislation

State Senator Mark Grisanti (R-I, Buffalo) announced today that he will co-sponsor the Compassionate Care Act, which would legalize the delivery and use of marijuana by seriously ill patients who need the drug for treatment of their illnesses.

 

“I have seen too much suffering — suffering that can only be alleviated by medical marijuana,” Grisanti said.  “I cannot stand by and let such suffering continue.”

Senator Grisanti Names Joseph Ruszala ‘Veterans Hall of Fame’ 2014 Inductee

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) today announced that Joseph Ruszala of Hamburg was honored in Albany  this week, as part of a ceremony that recognizes military veterans of New York being named to this year’s class of the New York State Senate’s Veterans Hall Of Fame.

Joseph Ruszala

On a particularly distressing night, while under attack, a young 25th Infantry Division American Soldier in Vietnam named Joseph Ruszala wondered if he would make it home alive, and if he did, what his life would become. Today, nearly 40 years later, that young soldier, who did survive and return to Western New York, is being honored and recognized for his remarkable community service.

Grisanti's Bill Establishes Green Development Home Tax Exemption For Erie County

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) today announced the passage of a bill that establishes a green development home tax exemption for local property owners, making an amendment of the state's real property tax law for property located within Erie County.

 

The legislation is expected to facilitating growth in the green home market by offering an incentive for homes that typically cost more than the average new home.

Supporting Lake Shore Central School District's Energy Education Initiatives

Senator Grisanti recently visited Lake Shore High School for an Earth Day presentation recognizing his support for the Lake Shore Central School District's Energy Education Initiatives. Senator Grisanti was honored with a certificate of appreciation as well as a framed illustration by Alfonso Butlak IV, a senior at Lake Shore High School, which pays tribute to the senator's support of the district. The district has saved more than $180,000 through the Energy Education Program.
