Senator Grisanti Receives 2013 Liberty Bell Award From Erie County Bar Association

Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) will receive the prestigious 2013 Liberty Bell Award, the highest award that is bestowed at the Annual Law Day Luncheon of the Bar Association of Erie County.

The award, established in 1964, recognizes community service that has strengthened the American system of freedom under the law and acknowledges outstanding contributions to the effective functioning of our institutions of government.

The award will be presented Tuesday April 30 to Senator Grisanti at a luncheon held at Statler Towers in the City of Buffalo. Receiving the award in his absence (Session Day in Albany) is his Father, Richard Grisanti, who has been practicing law for over 50 years.

Senator Grisanti Continues Push For Stronger Animal Cruelty Laws With Bill To Crack Down On Puppy Mills

Measure is a priority in Buffalo senator's sweeping bill package to protect animals as a part of the ASPCA's "Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month" in April. (BUFFALO, NEW YORK) Senator Mark Grisanti (R,I-60) today renewed his call for New York State to finally get tough on puppy mills with his sponsorship of bill S.3753, which would allow forward-thinking local governments to regulate commercial pet breeders and pet stores. The legislation addresses the ineffectiveness of New York's "Pet Dealer" law, the proliferation of unregulated dog breeders in the state and the pet industry's complicit support of inherently cruel, out-of-state puppy mills.

'Protect Our Children Act' Passes The New York State Senate For Second Straight Year

Senator Grisanti sponsors bill that protects children during "National Child Abuse Prevention Month"    (Buffalo, New York) Senator Mark Grisanti (R, I-60) is proud to announce the passage of the "protect our children act," which helps to protect children from cruel and repeated maltreatment. It is now time for the Assembly to act.    The bill, which was sponsored by Senator Grisanti, originally passed the Senate last year but did not pass the Assembly in 2012.   "This legislation will help to protect our children from anyone who is put in a position of trust to care for them and instead commits the ultimate violation and in some way abuses them," said Sen. Senator Grisanti Proposes Bill to Prohibit Devocalization of Animals

Senator Grisanti reveals part of his "four-legged legislative priorities”in honor of Prevention of Animal Cruelty Month

 

(BUFFALO, NEW YORK) Senator Mark Grisanti (R,I-60) has introduced legislation to protect dogs and cats from what animal advocates worldwide deem animal abuse. NY Senate bill S.2271 would prohibit devocalization, an elective procedure in which vocal cords are cut just to alter an animal’s voice.

The companion bill, introduced by Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski, passed the NYS Assembly on March 4. Similar legislation was enacted in Massachusetts in 2010.

Celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day - Plant A Tree!

Superstorm Sandy ravaged trees and greenery around various homes and neighborhoods in New York State, and we’re just beginning to see the long term damage some trees and shrubs suffered.

Thousands upon thousands of trees were lost, but we now have a chance to restore what was lost. Trees and shrubs help reduce storm water runoff, prevent soil erosion, provide habitat and shade, beautify the landscape and protect our shorelines.

This year, April 22 is Earth Day and April 26 is Arbor Day -- the perfect time to plant a tree to replace one that was lost.

Annual Program Honors Women's Contributions to Our Community 

In honor of Women’s History Month, Senator Grisanti is looking forward to honoring a woman from Western New York whose outstanding work on behalf of our communities makes herdeserving of special recognition by the State Senate as a New York "Woman of Distinction."

The Senate will honor this distinguished woman from our area and throughout the state at an Albany reception to be held on Tuesday, May 7th, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., where each honoree's photograph and biography will become part of a special exhibit proclaiming the special contributions of exemplary New York women.

Update on the Reuse Process for Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo

Tuesday, April 23 at 5:30 p.m.

 

A community meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 23 at 5:30 p.m. in the Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Alford Auditorium.  Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the process being developed for the reuse of the current hospital’s campus once operations move to the new John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.

Senator Grisanti delivers increased aid for Western New York school districts

Senator Mark Grisanti (R,I-60) was successful in fighting for increased school aid for school districts located in the 60th Senate District.

The New York State Legislature passed its third consecutive on-time budget which included an increase for every school district located in Senator Grisanti's district.

"Our school districts provide invaluable services here in Western New York and across New York State, and they operate on a tight budget. We must provide the resources necessary to educate our children, keep them in school and ultimately graduate prepared for college or the workforce. We were able to increase school aid across the 60 District, and this will help children receive the resources they need to succeed," said Senator Grisanti.

Senator Grisanti successful in increasing CHIPS funding for his entire district

Senator Mark Grisanti(R,I-60) was successful in his fight to increase CHIPS funding for the 60th Senate District. The New York State Senate today concluded its passage of the 2013-14 state budget that delivers an on time budget with CHIPS (Consolidated Highway Improvement Projects) increases in every single City, Town and Village located in  Senator Grisanti's district. The increase is over $1.162 Million from the previous year.

"I am proud to announce that every City, Town and Village in my district received an increase in CHIPS funding. Since day one it has been about bringing jobs and resources back to Western New York. I will never stop fighting for Western New York," said Senator Mark Grisanti.
