2013 Halloween Walk and Fairytale Forest

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today announced plans for the 2013 Halloween Walk and Fairytale Forest scheduled for Thursday, October 31, 2013, from 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Owl’s Head Park, located at 67th Street and Colonial Road.

 

The 18th Annual event will feature the Haunted Walk, the Fairytale Forest, a pumpkin patch, a coloring contest and a costume contest. The event will also feature rides for the children, face painting, sand art, a Trackless Train Ride, and “Dracula’s Food Court”.

Purpose: Celebrate and promote the culture of Moon Festival:

Traditional Cheong Sam costume by models from different ethnicities, performance by national champion singers, street dance, bands, modern and classic songs, lantern riddle, food from different ethnicities, calligraphy, community information, festival snacks.

Featuring: 2pm: Kids receive festival lanterns and join in parade.

Screenings will include free:

1. Echocardiogram-A test that uses sound waves to create a moving picture of the heart. It shows the function, size, shape and movement of the heart muscle and valves.

2. Carotid Ultrasound- Screen for blockage or narrowing of the carotid artery, which if present can increase risk of stroke.

3. Ankle-Brachial Index- Diagnosis PAD. Individuals with high Ankle-brachial index are more likely to have a heart attack.

4. Thyroid Ultrasound-This test identifies and monitors the growth of nodules that could be cancerous.
