Traffic Relief On The Horizon For Brooklyn And Staten Island Commuters

Golden: Governor Spitzer Is Wrong To Derail Javits Center Proposal

Senator Marty Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) today denounced the decision of the Empire State Development Corporation to scrap their plans to move forward with an additional 340,000 square feet of convention center space at the Jacob Javits Center.

"Governor Spitzer said himself that he wanted to build a thoroughbred size convention center - and it would be bigger and better than the planned expansion Governor Pataki had proposed," said Senator Marty Golden. "It seems to me that Eliot Spitzer is more concerned with appeasing his ambition rather than the people of this city and state."

Golden Supports Legislation To Combat Computer Crimes Against Children

State Senator Martin J. Senate Passes Judicial Pay Increase Legislation

State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) joined the the New York State Senate yesterday in passing legislation (S.6550), sponsored by Senator John DeFrancisco (R-C-I-WF, Syracuse), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, that provides for increased compensation for judges and justices in New York State and establishes a commission to determine future salary increases and cost of living adjustments."Passing this bill is the right thing to do. Victory Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Reprieve

Senator Golden Blasts City Council Decision To Provide Free Services To Inmates

Brooklyn-State Senator Martin Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) today denounced the decision of the New York City Council to provide birth certificates free of charge to inmates upon being released from incarceration. Legislation was passed yesterday that would amend the city administrative code to repeal the current fifteen dollar fee for inmates to obtain a copy of their birth certificate. The fee is still required for all other New York City residents.

Fossella, Golden & Gentile Announce Lawsuit To Save Er Services At Victory Hospital Site

Congressman Vito Fossella (R-NY13), State Senator Marty Golden (R-C) and City Councilman Vincent Gentile (D) today announced plans to file a lawsuit against the New York State Department of Health (DOH) to prevent the discontinuation of emergency room and acute care services at the Victory Memorial Hospital site.

The lawmakers will file an Article 78 charging that the State’s decision to close the hospital and reject SUNY Downstate’s application to maintain ER and acute care services at the site were "arbitrary and capricious." An Article 78 is a type of laws

Senator Golden Honored By Brooklyn College For Support Of Center For Italian American Studies

At a ceremony on November 13, Brooklyn College honored New York State Senator Martin J. Golden for his generous support in issuing a $10,000 grant for the College’s Center for Italian American Studies. The funding, which was made available through a Member Item allocated by the State Senate, will be used to launch new courses and to provide additional resources to Brooklyn College’s students and faculty.
