Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is renewing calls for New York State to adopt smart chip technology for debit and credit cards, in the wake of the possible security breach being investigated by Home Depot. Media reports indicate that Home Depot is looking into unusual activity related to credit and debit cards of store customers and are working with law enforcement and bank officials.
Senator Marty Golden stated, “Today, I renew my efforts to mandate smart chip technology here in New York State. There is no reason to delay this upgrade on our credit and debit cards, and as each day passes, we see a greater urgency to put better protections in place to prevent financial identity theft.”
Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) and Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-C-I, Brooklyn/Staten Island), will host a press conference on Thursday, September 4, 2014, at 11:30 a.m., at the Fort Hamilton Senior Center, 9941 Fort Hamilton Parkway, to bring awareness of the new and improved access a ride service, and encourage senior and disable citizens to apply for it to meet their transportation needs.
Southwest Brooklyn is home to one of the largest senior populations in the City of New York, and recent information brought forth at a public hearing, highlighted the need for more information about this New York City Transit Authority service to be made available.
Our mission is to "gold" as much of Bay Ridge as possible in a single day. Volunteers will be going out into the neighborhood to tie gold ribbons around trees and distribute information. Families, friends, neighbors, schools, scout troops - everyone is invited to help!
Team leaders and volunteers are needed. You can build your own team or join one of the ones that will be forming. Bay Ridge Cares will provide the ribbons and materials.

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), a former New York City Police Officer, will honor a six members of New York's Finest at an awards ceremony to be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014, at 4:30 p.m., at the 62nd Precinct Stationhouse, located at 1925 Bath Avenue in Brooklyn.
Captain William G. Taylor, Commanding Officer of the 62nd Precinct, will join Senator Golden in honoring police officers involved in three life saving incidents, over the past two weeks.

Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R,C,I-Brooklyn, Staten Island) and Sen. Marty Golden (R,C,I-South Brooklyn), are announcing plans to host two additional yoga classes with Yoga in Bay Ridge in September. The series of events, which started in June, have been so successful that the lawmakers decided to extend the program through the end of the summer weather.

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), has sent a letter to Governor Andrew Cuomo regarding current and future financial matters facing the State and its ability to care for our disabled residents.
In his letter, Senator Golden applauds the Governor’s recent appeal of a federal government decision seeking a $1.3 billion refund in Medicaid funding for payments to New York State developmental centers and intermediate care facilities. Senator Golden’s letter also highlights 2013 legislative action that saved funding for the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities. Additionally, Senator Golden offers to work with the Governor to strategize in this area of public health so to maximize resources.

Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), in partnership with Xaverian High School, today is announcing plans to host Brooklyn’s 8th Annual Senior Idol, a popular contest that draws upon the talent of the senior citizens of Kings County, vying to be crowned “Brooklyn’s Senior Idol” this Fall.
Brooklyn residents age 50 or older are invited to register and audition on Monday, September 8, 2014, starting at 4:00 p.m. in the Xaverian High School auditorium, 7100 Shore Road (handicapped accessibility available at 71st Street door). Senior citizens trying out for this singing competition should bring a CD or cassette tape accompaniment. A piano is available for any contestant interested and participants are welcome to bring a guitar.
