METROCARD MOBILE SALES UNIT TO VISIT SENATOR GOLDEN'S DISTRICT OFFICE

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, 22nd District) is today announcing that the Metropolitan Transit Authority has scheduled the Metro Card Van to visit his Bay Ridge District Office, located at 7408-5th Avenue, on Monday, March 2, 2015 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

The Metro Card Bus will enable the local residents to take care of all their Metro Card business at the Metro Card Bus, whether it's applying for or refilling a Reduced-Fare Metro Card, buying or refilling a regular Metro Card, or asking a MetroCard-related question. Senator Golden assures residents that they will receive prompt and attentive service.

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), will host a press conference with Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny (D-WF, Brooklyn), & Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-C-I, Brooklyn/Staten Island) to renew calls for a toll relief program for the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. The press conference will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, 12:00 P.M. at the Brooklyn entrance of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, located at the intersection of 92nd Street & Gatling Place in Bay Ridge.

Golden, Brook-Krasny & Malliotakis are renewing their call for a permanent discount for drivers who travel over the bridge more than 3 times monthly.

NYC EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ISSUES WEATHER ALERT FOR TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 22

New York City Emergency Management has issued a weather alert for dangerous cold temperatures for tonight, followed by a wintry mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain Saturday, 2/21 through Sunday 2/22. Low temperatures tonight are forecast around 10 degrees and wind chills near 5 degrees. Saturday wind chills between 0 and 10 degrees can be expected. Light snow will begin late Saturday morning and continue throughout the day, becoming heavier between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Snow will transition to sleet and freezing rain Saturday evening into Sunday morning. New Yorkers are asked to exercise caution during the period of extreme cold weather, and be prepared for slippery conditions, as freezing rain could cause icy conditions Sunday.

BRAUNSTEIN AND GOLDEN CALL FOR STATEWIDE BAN ON SEX OFFENDERS RESIDING NEAR SCHOOLS

In response to a court ruling that localities in New York are prohibited from enacting rules restricting the residency of sex offenders, Assemblyman Edward C. Braunstein (D-Bayside) and Senator Martin Golden (R, C, I-Brooklyn) called for the passage of their legislation (A.547/S.2269), which would prohibit all level one, two and three sex offenders in New York State from residing within 1,000 feet of a school.

On February 17th, the New York State Court of Appeals struck down a Nassau County regulation banning sex offenders from residing within 1,000 feet of a school, ruling that state law on sex offenders supersedes all local regulations. The Court’s decision puts over 100 local laws at risk.

AARP COMMENDS SENATOR GOLDEN FOR VOTING TO HELP NEW YORK'S FAMILY CAREGIVERS

ALBANY, New York – Family caregivers are too often left unprepared to provide proper care before taking their loved ones home from the hospital. State Senator Martin Golden cast a key vote this week to advance legislation ensuring caregivers are offered instruction in any post-discharge tasks their older parents, spouses or other loved ones will need at home, fostering better care and potentially avoiding costly hospital re-admissions.

Senator Golden and his colleagues on the Senate Health Committee unanimously advanced the CARE Act (S.676-Hannon) this week for consideration by the full Senate.

DSNY ISSUES 'SNOW ALERT' FOR WEDNESDAY AT 10PM TO PREPARE EQUIPMENT AND PERSONNEL FOR POSSIBLE STORM

The New York City Department of Sanitation has issued an agency preparedness ‘snow alert’ for Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 10 p.m. A snow alert is not a weather forecast, but indicates the potential of a snow event. Calling a snow alert allows DSNY to begin to prepare for a possible response by loading salt spreaders, attaching plows (if necessary), preparing tire chains and notifying other city agencies and supplementary personnel as needed.
