The legislation would require that a board of elections in cities in New York State with a population of more than one million to provide the same information in Russian that it provides in languages other than English.
Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) today is announcing that yesterday, Senate Democrats defeated a common-sense bill that would elevate criminal penalties for convicted sex offenders that fail to register every year with the Division of Criminal Justice Services’ sex offender registry. Under the Republican bill, the penalty for failure to register would be raise from a misdemeanor to a class D felony.
Senator Martin J. Golden (R,C,I - Brooklyn) today commended the Governor for accepting the resignation of Herbert Teitlebaum, but urged him to introduce legislation which will create a truly independent government integrity watchdog. Last week, Senator Golden urged the Governor to introduce legislation to create a new commission tasked with policing State government and offered to work with him to craft the bill.
