SENATOR GOLDEN SUPPORTS LEGISLATION TO REQUIRE GRAFFITI REMOVAL AS PART OF COMMUNITY SERVICE SENTENCE IMPOSED FOR GRAFFITI OFFENSES

Albany- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District), a member of the New York State Senate Codes Committee, today voted in support of legislation (S. 1880-A) that would require any community service sentence imposed for an offense involving graffiti to include graffiti removal as a portion of the required service.

SENATOR GOLDEN SUPPORT LEGISLATION TO PROVIDE VOTING MATERIALS IN RUSSIAN

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) this week voted in support of legislation, S. 552, sponsored by Senator Carl Kruger, to provide voting materials printed in the Russian language as well as English.

 

The legislation would require that a board of elections in cities in New York State with a population of more than one million to provide the same information in Russian that it provides in languages other than English.

SENATE DEMOCRATS BLOCK REPUBLICAN BILL TO TOUGHEN SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) today is announcing that yesterday, Senate Democrats defeated a common-sense bill that would elevate criminal penalties for convicted sex offenders that fail to register every year with the Division of Criminal Justice Services’ sex offender registry. Under the Republican bill, the penalty for failure to register would be raise from a misdemeanor to a class D felony.

Senator Martin J. Italian Americans unite to raise money for victims of the abruzzo earthquake

Senator Golden Says “We Need Results – Not Talk on the Freedom Towers”

Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) has called on Governor Paterson and Speaker Silver to stop issuing press releases on the need to build the Freedom Towers and to actually start doing something. Senator Golden has urged the Governor and Speaker to obtain federal stimulus money earmarked for the building of the Freedom Towers, and to set a firm timeline for construction. The Freedom Towers would consist of three buildings totaling more than 7.5 million square feet.

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) today announced a new program, City Solve, to be instituted in his district to address the community graffiti problem. Senator Golden was joined at the press conference by local leaders and merchants, along with the CitySolve graffiti cleaning vehicle, to officially introduce the program which he has funded entirely in the amount of $50,000 for the next year.
