Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is announcing that he has awarded $200,000 in educational funding, through the New York State Senate, to support and assist the teachers and students of more than fifteen schools in his district.
The funding has been awarded in response to requests from individual schools as to the need for financial assistance to develop and improve instructional programming. Many of the schools included smart boards and laptop carts a top their wish lists recently addressed to Senator Golden.

Golden, the Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Science, Technology, Incubation and Entrepreneurship, today is announcing that he has introduced legislation that will allow the email of a person who has passed away to be accessed by the executor of their estate.
The bill, S. 6176, has been introduced in the wake of growing concerns as more and more New Yorkers decide to handle their bills and finances electronically. As a result, individuals designated to settle an estate upon a person’s passing, require the information contained in new e-mail messages, and documents stored in email folders.

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), in partnership with American Legion Amity Post 791, is urging community support for a collection drive to support our troops being cared for at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and The Armed Forces Military Nursing Home.
Senator Golden, along with Michael Moylan and Howard Dunn from Amity Post 791, are asking for the community to be generous and donate new board games and new pajamas, for the soldiers and their families. Board games such as Candy Land, Scrabble, Monopoly, Pictionary and many others, provide occupational therapy for the soldiers during hospital rehabilitation. Additionally, new pajamas for men, women and children, are being collected for the military families.

The Metro Card Bus will enable the local residents to take care of all their Metro Card business at the Metro Card Bus, whether it's applying for or refilling a Reduced-Fare Metro Card, buying or refilling a regular Metro Card, or asking a MetroCard-related question. State Senator Martin Golden (R, C, I) has introduced legislation to protect the online privacy of New Yorkers from hackers and to insure that owners of email accounts and web services keep personal information totally private, to require rapid notification of any breach of email accounts or credit cards, and to enforce penalties against the owners of email and web services when such breaches occur. The bill is called “The New York State Online Privacy Act.”

S7628-A/A9562-A, approved by both houses of the New York State Legislature, would amend State law governing injuries and illnesses suffered due to participation in the rescue, recovery and cleanup in the wake of the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is renewing calls for New York State to adopt smart chip technology for debit and credit cards, in the wake of the possible security breach being investigated by Home Depot. Media reports indicate that Home Depot is looking into unusual activity related to credit and debit cards of store customers and are working with law enforcement and bank officials.
Senator Marty Golden stated, “Today, I renew my efforts to mandate smart chip technology here in New York State. There is no reason to delay this upgrade on our credit and debit cards, and as each day passes, we see a greater urgency to put better protections in place to prevent financial identity theft.”

Our mission is to "gold" as much of Bay Ridge as possible in a single day. Volunteers will be going out into the neighborhood to tie gold ribbons around trees and distribute information. Families, friends, neighbors, schools, scout troops - everyone is invited to help!
Team leaders and volunteers are needed. You can build your own team or join one of the ones that will be forming. Bay Ridge Cares will provide the ribbons and materials.
