SENATOR GOLDEN TO MTA: CONSIDER TOLL DISCOUNT PLAN FOR E-Z PASS USERS OF THE VERRAZANO-NARROWS BRIDGE

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is calling on the Metropolitan Transit Authority to consider an MTA discount plan that reduces tolls, similar to the Port Authority’s recent announcement, for enrolled E-Z Pass users with non-commercial plates to $4.75 per trip, for the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, after three trips in one calendar month.

STATE LEGISLATORS TO DENOUNCE MTA PLANS TO HIKE BRIDGE AND TUNNEL TOLLS

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) and Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-C-Brooklyn/Staten Island) will host a press conference tomorrow, Thursday, September 20, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at the entrance to the Verrazano Bridge at the Southwest corner of 92nd Street and Gatling Place in Brooklyn, to denounce a proposal being considered by the Metropolitan Transit Authority to increase tolls on area bridges and tunnels.

 

The legislators will also be speaking about the impact of the toll costs on business in New York State including the New York Container Terminal.

Authority regarding the devastating impact of their toll hikes on businesses in the New York Container Terminal (NYCT), the legislators decried the damaging effect such a measure would have on the city’s economy.

Senator Golden, Congressman Grimm and Assemblywoman Malliotakis Call on MTA Chairman Lhota and Board Members to Reject Toll Hike Proposal

Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), Congressman Michael Grimm (R-C, Brooklyn, Staten Island) and Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-C, Brooklyn, Staten Island) this afternoon have authored a letter to Metropolitan Transit Authority Chairman Joseph Lhota, and all MTA Board Members, urging them to oppose the plan to raise tolls on the Verrazano-Bridge at the December 19th Board meeting.

Support the Discount Toll Plan on Verrazano-Narrows Bridge

Following Staten Island discounted proposal, Senator Golden and Assemblywoman Malliotakis are renewing their call for a discounted rate for those who travel over the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge 3 or more times a month. 

LOCAL STATE OFFICIALS TO URGE SENIORS TO SIGN UP FOR NEW AND IMPROVED ACCESS A RIDE SERVICE

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) and Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-C-I, Brooklyn/Staten Island), will host a press conference on Thursday, September 4, 2014, at 11:30 a.m., at the Fort Hamilton Senior Center, 9941 Fort Hamilton Parkway, to bring awareness of the new and improved access a ride service, and encourage senior and disable citizens to apply for it to meet their transportation needs.

 

Southwest Brooklyn is home to one of the largest senior populations in the City of New York, and recent information brought forth at a public hearing, highlighted the need for more information about this New York City Transit Authority service to be made available.
