Mammogram for Mother's Day

I plan to host mammography screenings in conjunction with the American Italian Cancer Foundation.

The 37 foot mobile mammography van, staffed completely by women, will be outside of Senator Golden’s District Office.

The mammography screenings take about thirty minutes to complete. An appointment, which is necessary, can be made by calling 718-238-6044.

SENATOR GOLDEN TO HOST CELEBRATION OF ASIAN PACIFIC HERITAGE MONTH

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is announcing that he will be hosting his 12th Annual Asian Pacific Heritage Festival in the playground at Public School 176 located at the corner of Bay Ridge Avenue and 12th Avenue, on Sunday, May 4 2014, from 12pm to 5pm. State Senator Golden is inviting the community to join in this special event held of Asian American Heritage which is the month of May.

 

The event will feature ethnic dances including the Chinese Lion Dance, a Kung Fu demonstration, and performances of Korean, Malaysian, Burmese and Chinese dance. A wide array of ethnic food, painting, arts and crafts and prizes will be part of the celebration.

SENATOR GOLDEN VOTES FOR LEGISLATION TO EXPAND COUNSELING SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF SEX OFFENSES AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Albany – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) joined his colleagues in the New York State Senate to approve legislation S.5502B, sponsored by Senator Andrew Lanza (R-Staten Island), that would expand health care and wellness education to victims of sex offenses and child pornography.

 

“The scourge of abuse and sex offenses leaves devastation and destruction in their wake, and the victims of these crimes are often left with severe emotional and psychological damage. Today, I rightly joined with my colleagues so to better help and assist these victims. As we work as a State to ensure that we properly punish the criminals, we also must help those in need to the best of our ability,” said Senator Golden.

GOLDEN LEGISLATION TO PREVENT CONVICTS FROM CHANGING NAMES WHILE IN PRISON PASSES STATE SENATE

Albany - The New York State Senate passed legislation S.2248A sponsored by Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), that would prevent dangerous criminals from changing their name while incarcerated, on parole or on probation. This measure would protect the rights of victims of violent crime by not allowing violent felons to petition for a name change until they have completed their sentence requirements.

 

"This bill will guarantee that we better track those who have committed some of the most heinous of crimes, and give some piece of mind to victims, that offenders cannot fall through the cracks and become anonymous within our society," Senator Golden said.

SENATOR GOLDEN PUTS SENIORS BACK ON THE MOVE IN BAY RIDGE

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today joined staff and members of the Bay Ridge Center for Older Adults for a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new senior center van that replaces one totaled in a 2012 car accident.

 

Senator Marty Golden stated, “I have proudly secured a grant from the New York State Senate in the amount of $65,000 to purchase a new van to replace the one damaged in the accident. The moment I heard of the collision my first thought was to make sure that everyone was okay. As soon as I knew that there was no major injuries, my mind immediately turned to thinking of how I could help the Center replace this van.”

Calls for New York City Water Board to reconsider raising rates on our middle class families

 

Brooklyn, NY – New York State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I), today is calling for The New York City Water Board not to increase water and sewage fees. As of today, the New York City Water Board is considering a proposal for a 3.35% increase in water rates, making it the 11th increase in as many years, stifling away much needed income from our already struggling middle class families.

“For 52 years, Bishop Ford Central High School has served a vital role for the education of students throughout our community. The sad truth today is the failure to pass the Education Investment Tax Credit was the final straw on this school. There is no doubt in my mind that the tax credit would have made a difference here. Equally, if we do not take immediate action to enact the Education Investment Tax Credit, we will continue to see closings at an accelerated rate,” said Senator Marty Golden.
