SENATOR GOLDEN LEADS COMMUNITY CELEBRATION OF ASIAN LUNAR NEW YEAR

Brooklyn- Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), together with the Chinese American Partnership, today announced plans to host their Annual Lunar New Year celebration on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at New Utrecht High School, located at 1601-80th Street in Brooklyn.

The celebration will include cultural performances and food, entertainment, and the distribution of important community information. Senator Golden will honor local leaders at the event with proclamations from the New York State Senate. A lucky drawing will also be held for prizes.

SENATOR GOLDEN ALLOCATES $1.2 MILLION TO SUPPORT LOCAL SCHOOLS

Brooklyn - State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is announcing that he has awarded $1.2 million in capital funding to six schools in his district.

Senator Golden has awarded $200,000 to the following schools in Districts 20, 21 and 22 including Public School 215, Intermediate School 278, Public School 112, Intermediate School 187, Public School 104 and Public School 185. The capital grants have been allocated to each school to support a variety of projects including labs, various infrastructure projects, and computers.

Brooklyn - State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), a member of the Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs, today joined his colleagues in voting to approve a State Senate Resolution (J3889) calling on the Obama Administration to move the 9/11 terror trials of New York without delay. The New York State Senate's action follows in the wake of the President's refusal this past Sunday to commit to moving the trial out of New York.

It is more like another step toward asking businesses in the Big Apple to close and for even more jobs be lost under his watch.

Brooklyn - State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) is today reminding eligible New Yorkers to file for the Earned Income Tax Credit, as part of the nationwide campaign designating January 29, 2010, “EITC Awareness Day”.The Earned Income Tax is a refundable credit for low income employees, designed to help eligible taxpayers lower their taxes or receive refunds. National estimates indicate that 15 to 20 percent of eligible workers do not claim their Earned Income Tax Credit benefits at the federal or municipal level. Last year, the average EITC amount was $2,000.
