Senator Golden With His Son, Patrick and Two Members of the United States Coast Guard

State Senator Martin J. Golden pictured here with his son, Patrick and two members of the United States Coast Guard, welcomed a United States Coast Guard helicopter and crew on their recent visit to Floyd Bennett Field as part of the Community and Educational Fair hosted by the National Park Rangers. The fair featured representatives of various city agencies and public service companies. A wide range of topics from fire safety to health were discussed in this afternoon of public community education.

Senator Golden Blasts Javits Center Failure

Senator Martin J. Golden today blasted Governor Paterson’s proposal for the expansion of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Governor Paterson announced a more than 90% reduction from the original plan. The Governor’s new proposal is only a 100,000 square foot expansion, which will include a paltry 40,000 square feet of new exhibition space.

Move to Reform Rockefeller Drug Laws Will Hurt New York

DROPPING THE ROCK WILL CRUSH OUR COMMUNITIES

Members of the Urban Task Force and Senate Republican Conference today blasted an ill-advised and potentially dangerous attempt by the Assembly Democrats to weaken New York State’s anti drug laws. The Rockefeller Drug Laws, a series of stringent anti-drug measures passed in 1973 which were once considered among the most strongest in the nation, were dramatically reformed in 2004.

Senator Marty Golden (R,C-Brooklyn) today said that he backs Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s call to increase fines for dog poop violators. The Brooklyn Senator said that he will introduce a bill in the State Senate that raises the maximum fine for repeat violators from $100 to $250.

Senator Marty Golden Comes Out Against MTA Approval Of Budget

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) is strongly criticizing the Metropolitan Transportation Authority board vote yesterday that will approve the proposed "doomsday budget." This budget would involve significant cuts to both local and express bus service in Senator Golden’s district, where he has spearheaded petition drives, and has made plans to meet with MTA officials to push for a reconsideration of these cuts.
