FAMOUS BROOKLYN ESTABLISHMENT “HINSCH’S” KNOCKED OUT OF BUSINESS

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), a former leader of the 5th Avenue Board of Trade, has issued the following statement today in response to the announcement that a famous Brooklyn restaurant and ice cream parlor “Hinsch’s” will close on March 1st.

 

“What a shame – we are witnessing an end of era before our eyes. Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time before a long standing food business would suffer unsustainable financial losses and have to shutter their doors. As Hinsch’s begins preparations to close within the next 6 weeks, I invite residents to go there for a final meal. Look out the windows while you are there and realize that in large part, the thriving food cart industry on the corner, has closed Hinsch’s.

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is encouraging residents in need of Superstorm Sandy assistance to visit the new FEMA Disaster Recovery Center opened earlier this week at the Gerritsen Beach Volunteer Fire Department Training Hall located at 43 Seba Avenue. The Center is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

SENATOR GOLDEN: 15TH YEAR OF FREE INCOME TAX SERVICES FOR SENIOR CITIZENS AND LOW INCOME RESIDENTS

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today announced that he has made plans to provide free income tax preparation services, for the 15th consecutive year, to senior citizens and residents of his district earning less than $30,000.

Appointments will be available at his district office located at 7408-5th Avenue, on Thursdays and Sundays from February 10th through April 14th. Thursday appointments will be scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and appointments will be scheduled on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

SENATOR GOLDEN PLEDGES SUPPORT OF “PIETRO’S FIGHT” TO HELP FIND A CURE FOR DMD EFFECTING ONE IN EVERY 3,500 MALE BIRTHS

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) having recently met with Brooklyn parents Dayna and Mannie Scarso, is announcing plans to support the fight against and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and bring awareness to the fact that this disease effects one in every 3,500 male births. The Scarso’s recently met with Senator Golden to discuss their situation involving their 3 year old son Pietro.

 

Senator Golden will be introducing a resolution in the New York State Senate in honor of this mission of love and fight for a cure to bring about Statewide awareness. The Scarso Family will join Senator Golden in the State Senate chamber in the near future for a presentation so to aid in their efforts to encourage research so to bring about a cure.

MALLIOTAKIS, GOLDEN PROPOSE GENERATOR TAX CREDIT

Lawmakers seek to prevent disaster-related gas shortages

 

Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R,C,I-Brooklyn, Staten Island) and Senator Marty Golden (R,C,I-Brooklyn) today joined Assembly members Jim Tedisco (R,C,I-Glenville) and Pete Lopez (R,C,I-Schoharie) in announcing that they are drafting new legislation to help prevent the long lines and long waits for gas that occurred following Superstorm Sandy.

 

In many cases, gas stations that had fuel were unable to remain open due to lack of electricity. This caused gas shortages and rationing downstate resulting in frustratingly tiring lines at the gas pump.

FRANCESCO LOCCISANO MEMORIAL FOUNDATION TO HOST AN INSPIRATIONAL EVENT TO SALUTE CHILDREN AND TEENS AS HEROES WHO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Mulchfest 2013, “TREECYCLE” will have two locations in Senator Golden’s district on January 12th and 13th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in both Owl’s Head Park (68th Street and Colonial Road) and Marine Park (Avenue U and East 33rd Street).

SENATOR GOLDEN ANNOUNCES FEMA SITE TO OPEN TOMORROW IN SHEEPSHEAD BAY

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is announcing that through the efforts of his office, a new FEMA Disaster Recovery Center will officially open tomorrow morning in Sheepshead Bay at the Sheepshead Bay Yacht Club located at 3076 Emmons Avenue.

 

Senator Marty Golden stated, “My office and I have worked diligently over this past holiday weekend to have this site made handicapped accessible and sufficient to house a Disaster Recovery Center for the people of Sheepshead Bay and Southwest Brooklyn. Senator Golden: NYC Rapid Repairs Deadline Extended to January 14th

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is applauding the City of New York for their decision to extend the NYC Rapid Repairs program application deadline until January 14, 2013 for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

 

Senator Marty Golden stated, "As much of NYC continues to recover and rebuild from Sandy, we must remember that some people who are eligible for the Rapid Repairs Program may have not yet applied. With the deadline having been tonight, I believe Mayor Bloomberg made the right decision in extending the deadline."

SENATOR GOLDEN ANNOUNCES METROCARD VAN SCHEDULES NEW YEAR VISIT TO BROOKLYN OFFICE

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, 22nd District) is today announcing that the Metropolitan Transit Authority has scheduled the Metro Card Van to the first visit of the New Year for his Bay Ridge District Office, located at 7408-5th Avenue, for Monday, January 7, 2012 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

The Metro Card Bus will enable the local residents to take care of all their Metro Card business at the Metro Card Bus, whether it's applying for or refilling a Reduced-Fare Metro Card, buying or refilling a regular Metro Card, or asking a MetroCard-related question. Senator Golden assures residents that they will receive prompt and attentive service.

ELECTED OFFICIALS ASK MTA BOARD TO DISAPPROVE PLAN TO RAISE VERRAZANO-NARROWS BRIDGE TOLL ON EVE OF VOTE

Brooklyn – On the eve of a vote by the Metropolitan Transit Authority to increase fares, State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), Congressman Michael Grimm (R-C, Brooklyn, Staten Island) and Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-C, Brooklyn, Staten Island) are again urging Metropolitan Transit Authority Chairman Joseph Lhota and all board members, to oppose the plan to raise tolls on the Verrazano-Bridge at tomorrow's meeting.

 

The plan would make the Verrazano Bridge the most expensive bridge in the world. The MTA is considering a plan to raise the cash payment $2 dollars to $15 and the increase would be $1.06 for those with E-Z Pass.

SENATOR GOLDEN FUNDS A NEW VAN FOR BAY RIDGE SENIOR CENTER TO REPLACE VEHICLE TOTALED IN MARCH COLLISION

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today visited the Bay Ridge Center for Older Adults to announce that has secured a $65,000 grant to replace the van that was totaled in the car accident on this past Spring.

 

Senator Golden was joined by the staff, administration and members of the Bay Ridge Center for the announcement of the gift of new wheels.

 

Senator Marty Golden stated, “I have proudly secured a grant for $65,000 to purchase a new van and replace the one damaged in the accident. The moment I heard of the accident my first thought was to make sure that everyone was okay. But once I knew that there was no major injuries, my mind immediately turned to thinking of how I could help replace this van.”

The site has helped more than 59,000 individuals find work since its October 2011 launch. As extended unemployment benefits expire for thousands of New Yorkers this month, the Governor urges long-term unemployed, now more than ever to apply for these jobs.

The event will feature an opportunity to meet Santa and his friends and ice skate in Cannon Ball Park.
