Canandaigua - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently presented Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero with a special New York State Resolution that was adopted in the State Senate in recognition of his nearly 39 years of dedicated service to the people of Ontario County. Still going strong, Sheriff Povero is the longest serving sheriff in the history of Ontario County.

ALBANY- State Senator Mike Nozzolio congratulates West Point Cadet Daniel Chang of Lyons for his successful academic and military training career during a recent event honoring West Point at the State Capitol. Daniel graduated from Lyons High School in 2008 and is studying Computer Science as a member of the West Point Class of 2013.

Auburn - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently participated in the official opening of the Child Advocacy Center of Cayuga County which will provide counseling services to children who have been the victims of sexual and physical abuse. Senator Nozzolio has been an outspoken proponent of victim’s rights and was instrumental in securing the necessary state funding to establish the Center.
Sodus - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently spoke to members of the Wallington Fire Company where he paid special tribute to several firefighters for their outstanding community service. Ken Kelsey was recognized with the Top Training Hours Award after completing over 157 hours of training. Senator Nozzolio also presented special New York State flags that have been flown over the State Capitol to Commissioner Ken Eastley for 46 years of service and to Chief Fred Burkhard for 35 years.
Geneva - Senator Mike Nozzolio continued his long standing support for the Geneva Boys and Girls Club by participating in their annual “Bowl for the Club” event.

Continuing his aggressive efforts to strengthen victim services and raise awareness of domestic violence, Senator Nozzolio recently met with members of the Victim Resource Center of the Finger Lakes. The members discussed with Senator Nozzolio ways to preserve services, promote safety and protect the rights of domestic violence victims.
Senator Nozzolio recently congratulated Special Olympics ice skater Peter Dailey of Webster on winning the bronze medal in the Special Olympics World Winter Games and the gold in the New York State Special Olympics. Peter, who also plays basketball and soccer, met with Senator Nozzolio to discuss ways of supporting and providing opportunity to individuals with disabilities.
Lyons - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently met with members of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors, Wayne County officials and corrections officers from the Butler Correctional Facility to discuss Governor Paterson's plans to close the Butler prison by January 2011. Members of the group presented Senator Nozzolio with a petition objecting to the closure and signed by nearly 250 Wayne County residents. The petition will be forwarded to Governor Paterson and Brian Fischer, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Corrections.
