Cyber crime and cyber terrorism continue to be the fastest growing threats to individuals in the United States.  The latest cyber attack involving the Joint Chiefs of Staff at what was thought to be the ironclad Pentagon, changes the game and should have us all deeply concerned for the National Security of the United States.

MEMBERS OF THE NEW YORK STATE SENATE MONROE COUNTY AND WESTERN NEW YORK DELEGATIONS SECURE FUNDING FOR THE BREAST CANCER COALITION OF ROCHESTER

Members of the New York State Senate Monroe County and Western New York Delegations, Senators Mike Nozzolio, Rich Funke, Patrick Gallivan, Tom O’Mara, Robert Ortt, Michael Ranzenhofer, Joseph Robach, and Catharine Young, have announced that they have secured state funding for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, as part of the 2015-2016 New York State Budget. The $200,000 state grant, administered by the New York State Department of Health, will help assist the Coalition with outreach to individuals impacted by breast cancer and help to provide expanded cancer services in the region.

Statistics show that cyber crime has now surpassed illegal drug trafficking as a way for criminals to profit. Our digital infrastructure is being compromised every day and as such, it has never been more vital to protect ourselves and our personal information from the threat of cyber attack.

Remembering Coach George Davis

For those of us who grew up in Seneca Falls, and throughout the Wayne-Finger Lakes region during the 1950’s, ’60’s and 70’s we received some sad news this week.

 

George Davis, a legendary football coach who for almost three decades amplified winning football traditions and established new standards of excellence at both Mynderse Academy and Hobart College, passed away in Georgia, where he lived for many years in retirement.

Giant Step Forward Toward Repeal of the SAFE Act

A very tough battle was waged.  A positive result was achieved.

 

As a result of extensive negotiations throughout the last several weeks, our efforts have been successful.  The SAFE Act ammunition database and background check has been stopped by a signed AGREEMENT between Governor Cuomo and State Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan.

Past Commander of the Department of New York Veterans of Foreign Wars, James Durkin, was recently nominated for induction into the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame by State Senator Mike Nozzolio.  James Durkin was inducted during a special ceremony at the State Capitol for his service to our Nation, as well as his dedicated efforts supporting his fellow veterans and their families.

Senator Mike Nozzolio and Assemblyman Bob Oaks recently sent correspondence to Congressman John Katko thanking him for his ongoing opposition at the federal level to the IJC’s Plan 2014.  Senator Nozzolio has long been opposed to Plan 2014 as it would devastate lakefront communities in Wayne County and across Upstate New York.
