SENATOR NOZZOLIO COMMENDS U.S. POSTAL SERVICE FOR MAKING PURPLE HEART STAMP “FOREVER”

New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio today commended the United States Postal Service for making the postage stamp commemorating the Purple Heart medal a “forever” stamp, ensuring that this reminder of the tremendous sacrifices made by our Nation’s servicemen and women will always continue in circulation. Senator Nozzolio co-sponsored a special Legislative Resolution (J.1550) that was adopted by the State Senate thanking the Postal Service for classifying the Purple Heart stamp as a forever stamp.

New York State Senate Crime Victims, Crime and Correction Chairman Mike Nozzolio has announced that the e-STOP Internet safety law has resulted in the removal of more than 24,000 accounts and online profiles linked to registered sex offenders. Senator Nozzolio led the fight in the State Senate to enact e-STOP when it was first established in 2008.

SENATOR NOZZOLIO SPONSORS “BRITTANY’S LAW” TO REGISTER AND TRACK VIOLENT FELONS

Continuing his aggressive efforts to protect our communities from violent crime, New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio has sponsored legislation (S.3645A) to create a statewide registry tracking violent felony offenders who are released from prison. The legislation, known as “Brittany’s Law”, is named for 12-year-old Brittany Passalacqua, who was murdered along with her mother by a violent convicted felon who had been released from prison early and put on parole just months earlier.

Senator Nozzolio Invites K - 6th Grade Students to Participate In Earth Day Poster Contest

Since the first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970, over 20 million Americans have participated, helping to improve the quality of air we breathe and the water we drink. In addition, landmark legislation has been passed to help support this effort, such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act.

The New York State Senate takes this opportunity to celebrate the great strides New York has made in helping to improve our environment. From expanding the bottle bill to promoting green energy, New York is helping to make a difference.

To celebrate and honor Earth Day this year, the New York State Senate is sponsoring a poster contest for children in grades K – 6. The theme of our Earth Day celebration is “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.”

SENATOR NOZZOLIO ANNOUNCES “ABSURD” BICYCLE LICENSE PLATE PROPOSAL WITHDRAWN

State Senator Mike Nozzolio has successfully called for the withdrawal of an outrageous new tax proposal that would require every bicycle in the State to be licensed.

The proposed legislation, introduced in the New York City-controlled State Assembly, would have created even more unnecessary regulations and fees for taxpayers by mandating that all bicycles be registered and forced to pass inspection.
