Albany - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently met with several students from LeMoyne College during their visit to the State Capitol for New York Student Aid Alliance Advocacy day. Senator Nozzolio met with the students to discuss the importance of student aid programs and how these state and federal programs allows students to meet their college expenses each year.
Continuing his aggressive efforts and commitment to lower taxes for New York’s hardworking families, senior citizens and job-producing business, State Senator Mike Nozzolio has called for the repeal of New York’s job killing Utility Tax Surcharge. The proposed five-year extension of this 2% tax on all utility bills, would cost homeowners and businesses a total of almost $3 billion dollars.
New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio has been appointed to serve as the Senate Chairman of the Joint Budget Conference Committee for Public Protection.
The Public Protection Budget Conference Committee is responsible for reviewing all aspects of the criminal justice budget, and budgets for correctional services, military and naval affairs, the state police, the judiciary and homeland security.
State Senator Mike Nozzolio has been selected to serve as Chairman of the New York State Senate Codes Committee. The Committee is one of the most important and active committees in the State Senate and has jurisdiction over all aspects of criminal justice policy.
The Federal Government should not provide trust status to the Oklahoma Cayuga-Senecas, and allow them to establish a reservation and indian casino in the central Finger Lakes of New York State.
I continue to strongly oppose any action by Washington bureaucrats to create an indian reservation in our region, and urge our Federal congressional representatives in the United States Senate and House of Representatives to take immediate action to block this current application.
Area Projects Among Winners of Regional Economic Development
Senator Nozzolio today announced that 25 job creation and community development projects in the 54th Senate District will receive critically important state funds through the second round of Regional Economic Development Council awards.
New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio announced the New York State Thruway Authority’s proposed 45% toll increase for commercial vehicles has been dropped. Today, The State Thruway Authority withdrew its disastrous plan to raise highway tolls on trucks and other commercial traffic.
“The Thruway Authority’s decision not to implement the proposed toll hike is a major victory for New York’s businesses and consumers.” said Senator Nozzolio, " There is no question that all businesses would suffer if this proposed toll increase has been allowed and the increase in transportation costs for consumer goods would have inevitably been passed on to individuals and families in our communities."

Each year during the Holiday Season, Senator Nozzolio collects nonperishable items from the community to be sent to military personnel deployed overseas. Continuing his strong commitment to protecting the environment and keeping hazardous electronic waste out of our communities, Senator Mike Nozzolio is proud to announce that he will be partnering with Time Warner Cable to host a Free electronic recycling event on Saturday, October 27th at Finger Lakes Racetrack. Members of the public are invited to drop off their old electronics and small appliances for recycling at no cost. Volunteers will be on hand to unload all vehicles and direct traffic.
New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio announced that Governor Cuomo has signed into law legislation (S.6799) he fought to enact that allows the state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to place a distinguishing mark on a driver’s license, or non-driver ID, to indicate its holder is a veteran. Under this law, a veteran of the United States Armed Forces may request to have this veteran status mark from the DMV.

On the eleven-year anniversary of September 11th , we pause to reflect on one of the darkest days in our State and Nation’s history.
