In recognition of his continuing efforts to preserve the important programs and services provided by local libraries, State Senator Mike Nozzolio has been named a “Top Supporter” by New Yorkers for Better Libraries in their annual voter’s guide. Senator Nozzolio received an “A” grade from the statewide organization of library leaders for his support of legislation to improve public library systems and his efforts to restore critical library funding in the 2012 State Budget.
In recognition of his continuing efforts to make New York State job competitive, enhance the growth of small businesses and support job creation, State Senator Mike Nozzolio has been honored by the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) with its “Guardian of Small Business” award. The “Guardian of Small Business” award is the highest recognition provided by the small business and job growth advocacy group, and acknowledges Senator Nozzolio’s strong support of New York’s independent business owners and job creators.
On the eleven-year anniversary of September 11th , we pause to reflect on one of the darkest days in our State and Nation’s history. We solemnly honor the memory of those who lost their lives, and look back on the sacrifices, commitment and dedication of the thousands of Americans who answered the call to duty in the wake of such an enormous tragedy.

In recognition of his continuing efforts to support job growth, cut taxes and control spending, New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio has been named one of the top “Jobs Supporters” in the entire State Legislature by organizations dedicated to job growth and business development in New York State.
Senator Nozzolio received the highest grades and rankings from both the Business Council of New York, and Unshackle Upstate, as part of their 2012 analysis of all state legislators’ voting records.
In the wake of yesterday’s disappointing decision by the United States Federal District Court to deny the rights of local governments and school districts to collect unpaid property taxes on land owned by individual Cayuga Indians, New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio and Assemblyman Brian Kolb have called upon United States Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer, as well as area congressmen, to immediately enact the legislation deemed necessary by the federal court.
In another strongly worded message to the New York State Thruway Authority, State Senator Mike Nozzolio condemned the proposed 45% toll increase for commercial vehicles calling it disastrous to New York's economy.
"There is no question," said Senator Nozzolio, "that all businesses will suffer if this proposed toll increase is allowed." Senator Nozzolio has urged all the members of the New York State Thruway Authority, to reconsider their proposal to implement the toll increase.

New York State Senator Nozzolio today announced that legislation he supported to improve early breast cancer detection has been signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo. The new law, S.6769B, will increase women’s awareness of the presence of dense breast tissue found during a mammography exam. Dense breast tissue can make it more difficult to detect tumors.

State Senator Mike Nozzolio recently honored Syracuse University Football legend Floyd Little on the floor of the historic New York State Senate chamber. Little is the only three time All-America running back to play for Syracuse and still holds the University's career record for touchdowns. In 1967, he was picked as a first round draft choice by the Denver Broncos, with whom he was named an American Football League All-Star. He was later inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Continuing his efforts to ensure the safety of students in New York’s schools, State Senator Mike Nozzolio today announced that the Senate has adopted legislation he is co-sponsoring legislation to strictly prohibit school bullying in all forms. The legislation (S.7740) comprehensively defines bullying to ensure that all students are protected and addresses both conventional bullying and online cyber-bullying.
Recently, my colleagues in the State Senate and I adopted important legislation (S.2491) to add CPR training as part of every high school student's health curriculum. This measure will significantly raise awareness of this important skill and could save countless lives.
