SENATOR NOZZOLIO OPPOSES DMV PLAN TO ELIMINATE VISION TESTS FOR DRIVERS

State Senator Mike Nozzolio today called on the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles to immediately abandon its plan to eliminate vision test requirements for drivers renewing their licenses. Senator Nozzolio was joined by Don Shepherd of Seneca Falls, a former Department of Transportation employee who nearly died from injuries he sustained when he was struck by a vision-impaired driver while doing construction in a work zone.

Honoring Clinton “Sonny” VanGelder, the first veteran laid to rest at the Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery

This week, I was deeply honored to attend the burial service for Clinton “Sonny” VanGelder of Geneva, who became the first veteran to be laid to rest at the Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Sonny was a dedicated American serviceman who represented his Country with distinction and honor during the Korean War. As a U.S. Air Force Veteran who trained at the Sampson Air Force Base, he was laid to rest on the very ground where he forged his commitment to our Nation 59 years ago.

SENATOR NOZZOLIO ANNOUNCES LEGISLATION PROTECTING STUDENTS FROM TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURIES SIGNED INTO LAW

New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio today announced that Governor Cuomo has signed into law legislation (S.3953) he co-sponsored and fought to enact that establishes guidelines for coaches, teachers and other school personnel to protect our students from concussions and traumatic brain injuries.

SENATOR NOZZOLIO ENCOURAGES LOCAL RESIDENTS TO GET INVOLVED WITH HURRICANE RECOVERY AND CLEANUP EFFORTS

State Senator Mike Nozzolio is encouraging local residents to consider volunteering their time or resources this Labor Day weekend to help New York families who were hit the hardest by Hurricane Irene. Senator Nozzolio applauded Governor Andrew Cuomo for coordinating  “Labor for your Neighbor”, a volunteer initiative aimed at helping clean-up efforts following the devastation of the storm.

SENATOR NOZZOLIO DEMANDS EQUAL WATERSHED PROTECTIONS FOR ALL FINGER LAKES

State Senator Michael Nozzolio is continuing his efforts to urge the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to establish equal watershed protections for all the lakes in the Finger Lakes region. Senator Nozzolio strongly criticized the DEC’s recent draft Environmental Impact Statement on natural gas drilling, which recommends stricter environmental protection regulations in the regions surrounding Skaneateles Lake and the New York City watershed, while not providing the same protections for the watersheds of the other Finger Lakes.
