Senator Nozzolio Reminds Dairy Farmers That Assistance Applications Are Due April 27th

Albany-- State Senator Michael Nozzolio today reminded area dairy farmers that the deadline for applying for assistance through New York’s newly enacted Dairy Investment Act is Friday, April 27, 2007. Applications are being mailed to producers statewide, but Senator Nozzolio stressed that anyone who hasn’t received one should immediately contact their local county Farm Service Agency (FSA) office or the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets toll-free at 1-800-554-4501.

Senator Nozzolio Announces Disastrous Farm Labor Bill Defeated

New York City Legislators Attempt to Force Farm Labor Bill

Albany- Just three weeks after the disastrous Farm Labor Bill was defeated by the New York State Senate's Committee on Agriculture, virtually the same bill has been reintroduced by New York City legislators, in an attempt to force onerous work regulations onto Upstate New York farmers.

Senator Nozzolio, who adamantly opposed this measure when it was introduced just weeks ago, has indicated that he will continue his opposition to this bill which has been reintroduced without a single meaningful change.

SENATOR NOZZOLIO TO GOVERNOR: HANDS OFF NEW YORK STATE APPLE ASSOCIATION

State Senator Mike Nozzolio is calling on Governor Paterson to immediately withdraw his proposal to increase fees on Apple growers in New York State. The proposed 2010-11 Executive Budget calls for an 82% increase in Apple Marketing Order (AMO) and 136% increase in Apple Research and Development Program (ARDP) fees.

A major victory was achieved tonight on behalf of the Upstate New York agriculture industry, when the Farm Labor Bill that would have devastated the Upstate farming industry was rejected by the New York State Senate. This proposal was a clear example of New York City legislators who do not understand the unique needs of our Upstate farms.  The effects of this ill-conceived legislation would have been catastrophic to our State’s top industry.

SENATOR NOZZOLIO BLAST’S DEC’S CLOSED-DOOR RULE MAKING ON OUTDOOR WOOD BOILERS

New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio today blasted officials at the Department of Environmental Conservation for forcing through without public scrutiny a new set of invasive regulations restricting the use of outdoor wood boilers. These regulations were hastily enacted at a meeting of the DEC’s Environmental Review Board that was announced just days before the vote and without an opportunity for public comment.
