Senator Mike Nozzolio Takes Formal Oath of Office

STATEMENT BY SENATOR MIKE NOZZOLIO IN OPPOSITION TO LAND IN TRUST APPLICATION

The Federal Government should not provide trust status to the Oklahoma Cayuga-Senecas, and allow them to establish a reservation and indian casino in the central Finger Lakes of New York State.

I continue to strongly oppose any action by Washington bureaucrats to create an indian reservation in our region, and urge our Federal congressional representatives in the United States Senate and House of Representatives to take immediate action to block this current application.

SENATOR NOZZOLIO COMMENDS THE NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY AUTHORITY FOR STOPPING ITS PROPOSED 45% TOLL HIKE ON COMMERCIAL VEHICLES

New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio announced the New York State Thruway Authority’s proposed 45% toll increase for commercial vehicles has been dropped. Today, The State Thruway Authority withdrew its disastrous plan to raise highway tolls on trucks and other commercial traffic.

“The Thruway Authority’s decision not to implement the proposed toll hike is a major victory for New York’s businesses and consumers.” said Senator Nozzolio, " There is no question that all businesses would suffer if this proposed toll increase has been allowed and the increase in transportation costs for consumer goods would have inevitably been passed on to individuals and families in our communities."

Pearl Harbor Day

Today, on the 71st anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, we remember and honor the thousands of Americans who lost their lives and were wounded on that tragic day.

The attacks on Pearl Harbor were an assault upon our entire Nation and upon the sense of freedom, peace and safety we enjoy as American citizens.

In the wake of the attacks, America entered World War II and displayed our strength to the entire globe through the bravery of the members of our military who successfully defended our freedom and our Nation.

ITT Goulds Pumps Announces Expansion

Seneca Falls- I recently spoke at ITT Goulds’ recent announcement of their decision to expand their operations in Seneca Falls.  I was instrumental in putting together the state funding incentives necessary to keep ITT Goulds Pumps here.  The expansion project will include the construction of a Research and Development Facility as well as a new manufacturing facility in Seneca Falls.  It will create 50 new jobs and retain over 100 key positions in the company.

Senator Nozzolio Helps Dedicate the Community Fitness Center at the Port Byron Central School

Port Byron- Recently New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio joined with Port Byron School District Superintendent Neil O’Brien and members of the community to officially dedicate the Community Fitness Center in the Port Byron Central School.  Senator Nozzolio was instrumental in the completion of this project which provides students and residents of the Port Byron community with a center where they can exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

SENATOR NOZZOLIO LAUNCHES ANNUAL DRIVE TO BENEFIT THE TROOPS

Continuing his unwavering commitment to the brave men and women serving our Nation, State Senator Mike Nozzolio today announced the start of his annual Holiday Drive for the Troops. 

Each year during the Holiday Season, Senator Nozzolio collects nonperishable items from the community to be sent to military personnel deployed overseas. Senator Nozzolio was inspired to begin this annual drive with the help and support of Belinda McElroy of Sodus. Belinda’s youngest son, Sean served in Iraq and her oldest son, Patrick served in Afghanistan.

Geneva- New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio helped to cut the ribbon at the ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new Tops Friendly Markets store in Geneva.  Senator Nozzolio spoke about their importance to the economy of our Finger Lakes region and congratulated them on their continued success.
