Geneva’s New Community Center Is Now Open

Geneva - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently participated in the grand opening of the new Geneva Community Center where he was recognized for his efforts in helping to make the new Center a reality for the Geneva Community.

Senator Nozzolio Visits Butler Correctional Facility

Senator Nozzolio recently met with the staff and administrators of the Butler Minimum Security Prison to celebrate the news that the Butler facility would not be closing on October 1st as originally planned.

Under New York State law that Senator Nozzolio authored and had enacted, the Department of Corrections cannot close a prison facility without a mandatory 12 month notification process and legislative oversight. Butler was one of seven facilities slated to close this October without the legally required 12 month notification process.

Senator Michael Nozzolio, ranking member of the Senate Energy Committee, announced today that he is sponsoring legislation that would prevent any of the $112 million in state funding attached to the “green jobs” bill, enacted last week by the New York State Senate, from being allocated to ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) and its sister organization, the New York Agency for Community Affairs (NYACA).

Senator Nozzolio Spoke At Webster’s 9/11 Memorial Service

Webster - Senator Mike Nozzolio recently spoke at the September 11th remembrance ceremony in Webster where he acknowledged the sacrifices of the firefighters, the members of law enforcement, the emergency rescue workers, members of the port authority and the hundreds of others who risked their own personal safety to help rescue those still trapped in the Twin Towers. Senator Nozzolio thanked the Webster community for continuing to remember those lost on September 11th and to acknowledge the efforts of so many volunteers who continue to serve their community.

A Day of Remembrance

On September 11th, as we pause to reflect on this defining moment in our Nation's history, we can look back with pride on the sacrifices, commitment and dedication of the thousands of Americans who answered the call to duty on that fateful day. Thousands of men and women, many working 24 hour shifts, helped to free those still trapped under the debris. Volunteers helped to provide the rescuers with food, water and shelter while others donated time, resources and money to the recovery efforts. It was a day that forever changed the way we look at the world.

New York State Senator Michael Nozzolio recently held a discussion with representatives of the area food pantries and service organizations. The discussion focused on the problems that these organizations are experiencing in helping people provide for their family's nutritional needs. Senator Nozzolio pledged to work with the members of these organizations to help raise awareness on the issue of hunger in our local communities and to seek the community's help in meeting the increased demand for services.

Senator Nozzolio Hears Concerns at REDCOM

Victor- Senator Michael Nozzolio recently visited REDCOM, a telecommunications company located in Victor, where he discussed the impact of the New York State budget on the company and its employees. Senator Nozzolio spoke about his efforts to reduce State spending and eliminate many of the taxes that were added to this year's state budget. The imposition of a new State tax on healthcare benefits prompted employees of REDCOM to ask Senator Nozzolio for help. Senator Nozzolio met with REDCOM President Klaus Gueldenpfennig and toured the facility as a part of his visit.

Auburn - Senator Mike Nozzolio participated in the grand opening of the Stardust Entrepreneurial Institute in downtown Auburn where he was honored for his efforts to help establish this new state of the art facility. The Institute is one part of the economic development plan: " A Call to Action: A Blueprint for Success" that was created in 2006 as a way to reinvigorate downtown Auburn and the entire Finger Lakes Region.

Geneva- New York State Senator Michael Nozzolio recently held a discussion with representatives of the area food pantries and service organizations. US District Court Opinion Affirms Senator Nozzolio’s Legislation

New York State Senator Michael Nozzolio praised United States District Court Justice Carol Amon for issuing an important decision reaffirming the validity of Senator Nozzolio’s legislation that requires sales taxes be collected on all cigarettes sold to non-Native Americans by Indian-owned businesses.
