The Queens Gazette investigates the recent attack on a 30-year old woman in Sunnyside by a man who is suspected to be involved in similar attacks in Jackson Heights.

Queens detectives are trying to determine if a man who stalked and groped a 30-year-old Sunnyside woman early Sunday morning, is the same suspect sought in connection with a series of recent attacks in Jackson Heights.

 

The victim in the Easter Sunday attack told investigators the man followed her when she exited a nearby No. 7 train at about 5:45 a.m. on April 8.

Senator Gianaris Pushes for More Safety Measures on Queensboro Bridge Ramps

DNAinfo.com wrote an article about a Queensboro Bridge off-ramp, which has been called a "death trap," following several auto collisions that have resulted in lawsuits and fatalities.

The dangerous Queensboro Bridge off-ramp at Queens Plaza South near Crescent Street has long been called a “death trap,” and after yet another accident there this month, state senator Michael Gianaris (D-12) wants more to be done to ensure New Yorkers safety.

 

The latest traffic accident occurred on May 1 - the fourth in a series of wrecks within a little more than a year.

Gianaris urges Koch Bridge check after 4th crash

The Times Ledger wrote an article about the recent car accidents that have occured on a particular Queensborough Bridge off-ramp, which has prompted Senator Gianaris to appeal to the city Department of Transportation for increased safety measures.

State Sen. Michael Gianaris (D-Astoria) said he is asking the city Department of Transportation to do another comprehensive review of the Ed Koch-Queensborough Bridge off-ramps after a fourth car accident took place near the bridge last week.

 

“I think the DOT has not done enough to fix the traffic pattern there,” Gianaris said.

SENATOR GIANARIS AIMS TO MAKE NEW YORK TOUGHEST STATE ON GUNS

Introduces proposals strengthening state’s gun control laws

Queens, NY – Senator Michael Gianaris is working to improve public safety and better protect New Yorkers from gun violence by introducing a series of bills to strengthen the state’s gun control laws. His package of bills are based on criteria established by the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence which ranks each state according to the strength of its gun control laws. Currently, New York ranks fourth in the country. The passage of Senator Gianaris’s package of bills, however, would make New York first in the nation for having the toughest gun control laws.
