Senate Democratic Conference leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins today announced that Senator Michael N. Gianaris will serve as the new Deputy Conference Leader. Senator Gianaris will also remain Chairperson of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee.
Thank you for your wonderful contribution to the Thanksgiving Day Creative Celebration. We received outstanding poems, essays, and artwork that exemplify the creativity of New York State’s young people.
The submissions received are remarkable in what they represent – showing gratitude and respect for family, friends, our troops fighting overseas, and many other important subjects and activities. I am humbled and honored to see such inspiring contributions in response to what is a deceptively difficult question: “What are you thankful for?”
Senator Gianaris was present at the United Community Civic Association(UCCA), at the LaGuardia Mariott, where Assemblywoman Simotas, Assemblyman Den Dekker, Councilman Dromm and Donna Raimond were honored. Simotas received the Woman of the year Award, Den Dekker and Dromm the Community Unity Award and Raimond the Valerie Fisher Community Sevice Award.
Senator Gianaris spoke at the Central Community Celebration Dinner, held by Central Astoria Local Development Coalition, a non profit local organization, aimed at preserving and enhancing the profile of Astoria as a desirable neighborhood to live and work in.
State Senator Michael Gianaris was named winner in "City and State", on November 9th, 2012.
There was no shortage of victories and losses this week, as voters cast their ballots for scores of candidates across the state and the government continued to grapple with the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. From the North Country to Suffolk County, and President Obama on down, the Democrats’ triumphs added up. And though we won’t have a full account of the election’s champs and chumps until all the votes are counted and recounted, here they are: your winners and losers of the week.
