Statement: 2014-15 State Budget

Albany, N.Y.– New York State has an on-time budget for the fourth consecutive year.  Senator Ranzenhofer has issued the following statement on some of the details of the 2014-15 State Budget:

 

“I am pleased that the final State Budget includes many of my key priorities: fiscal discipline, tax relief, and funding for our schools.  Overall, this fiscal plan is balanced and responsible, while providing victories for taxpayers, small businesses, manufacturers, and our children.”

Ranzenhofer secures 27% increase in VLT aid to City, Town of Batavia and Genesee County

Albany, N.Y.–  State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer has announced today that the 2014-15 New York State Budget will increase Video Lottery Terminal (VLT) aid by more than 27 percent to the host communities of Batavia Downs.

 

Throughout the budget process, Senator Ranzenhofer and his colleagues in the State Senate have been working to secure additional VLT aid.

 

“I am pleased to announce that I was able to secure more VLT aid– for the Town of Batavia, the City of Batavia, and Genesee County– to help offset expenses for hosting Batavia Downs.  This is a huge win for our community.  Local governments and taxpayers will now receive a $171,700 funding boost,” said Ranzenhofer.

State Senator Mike Ranzenhofer will partner with Unyts– Western New York’s only organ, eye, tissue and community blood center– for an open-to-the-public blood drive on Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Batavia Downs Gaming, 8315 Park Road in Batavia.

 

“Your donation can save up to three lives in our community.  That is why it is so critically important to ensure blood is available for our friends and neighbors in their time of need.  I encourage residents to celebrate National Donate Life Month by giving the gift of life through a blood donation,” said Ranzenhofer.

Encourages kids in grades K-6 to help promote environmental awareness

Senator Mike Ranzenhofer today encouraged local student entries for the New York State Senate’s Earth Day Poster Contest, a statewide competition that raises student awareness of recycling and waste reduction.

 

“The New York State Senate takes this opportunity to celebrate the great strides New York has made in helping to improve our environment.  By educating students about the importance of recycling, they can be a part of the many New Yorkers who are already helping to make a difference,” said Ranzenhofer.

Monthly Column: State Senate moves budget resolution forward

By passing its one-house budget bill last week, the New York State Senate moved one step closer to a fourth consecutive on-time budget.  The budget resolution controls spending and builds on the progress of the past three years to stabilize the State’s finances.

 

The Senate’s budget resolution reduces taxes to help small businesses and manufacturers to create jobs; makes greater investments in education; and provides property tax relief for homeowners.
