Ranzenhofer Announces Free Car Seat Safety Checks in LeRoy

State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer has announced a Free Car Seat Safety Check on Saturday, August 7 from 10 a.m. to Noon at Wolcott Street School, 2-6 Trigon Park in LeRoy.

“Every parent knows that installing a car seat can be difficult.  This event will give parents information on how to properly install car seats as well as ensure the car seat they have is safely secured,” said Senator Ranzenhofer. 

The program is free and open to the public.  No appointment or RSVP is necessary.  Water and pop will be served.  For more information, please contact Senator Ranzenhofer’s District Office at (716) 631-8695.

Ranzenhofer Names Kahn 2010 Woman of Distinction; Kenmore-East graduate, Amherst resident receives award

Albany, NY – State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer has named Carrie Kahn the 2010 Woman of Distinction for the 61st Senatorial District, honoring her for her outstanding contributions to education in the community.

‘Build Up. Don’t Tear People Down.’; Students unveil campaign slogan, logo to stop bullying

Alexander, NY – Alexander Middle School students have unveiled a slogan and logo to stop bullying today – with the support of school administrators, Batavia Muckdogs President Brian Paris and State Senator Mike Ranzenhofer.  The campaign slogan, ‘Build Up. Don’t Tear People Down,” will be included with others on banners from Batavia, Oakfield-Alabama, Elba and Caledonia-Mumford schools during the Batavia Muckdogs Anti-Bullying Night on June 28.

Ranzenhofer Supports Anti-Bullying Legislation; New York among only seven States with no anti-bullying law

State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer has announced his support for anti-bullying legislation.   New York is only one of seven states that do not have a law to target school bullying.  Bully Police, a national watchdog group, has given New York State its lowest grade for not passing a law to protect school children from bullies.

Public Hearing set for Farm Labor Death Bill

Albany, NY – The State Senate Agriculture Committee has set a public hearing on the Farm Labor Death Bill for Monday, March 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Hearing Room A of the Legislative Office Building.

Ranzenhofer unveils tools to put New Yorkers back to work; Job Creation plan includes tax credits for hiring unemployed, new jobs

Batavia, NY – State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer has announced a plan to help put the unemployed back to work and create an environment to add jobs in New York.  Under the plan, a business can qualify for a $3,000 tax credit if a new hire is taken from the ranks of the unemployed who are collecting unemployment insurance from the State.

Medicaid Fraud Costs Billions Annually; Ranzenhofer joins Task Force to eliminate fraud, restore accountability

Albany, NY – State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer has joined the Senate Medicaid Fraud Task Force today.  The U.S. Government Accountability office estimates New York’s Medicaid Fraud to be near $5 billion in 2010.

“Medicaid fraud costs billions of dollars every year. We must investigate ways to eliminate fraud and recover taxpayer dollars to finally restore accountability to New York’s Medicaid program,” said Senator Ranzenhofer.  “I am eager to begin working with county leaders and district attorneys who are on the front lines of fighting fraud.”

Downstate businesses pay half of new tax on utilities; While WNY businesses struggle to survive, create jobs

Tonawanda, NY – The two-percent tax on utility bills, included in the State budget earlier this year, excludes the Long Island Power Authority.  The law only requires Long Island Power Authority customers to pay a one percent tax.

Ranzenhofer Holds First Aging Advisory Committee Meeting

Clarence, NY – Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer hosted his first Aging Advisory Committee Meeting last Wednesday at the Clarence Senior Center.  The Committee, comprising of members from various sectors of the aging and elderly care industries in Erie and Genesee County, will meet two to three times per year to discuss State issues important to preserving the financial and economic stability of the aging population.
