(Albany, NY) – State Senator Neil Breslin (D – Albany) will take his oath of office to the New York State Senate, 46th Senate District, next week.

Senator Breslin was first elected to the state Senate in 1996 and most recently served as the ranking Democrat on the Senate Insurance Committee. Senator Breslin serves as a member of the Executive Committee and is the former chair of the State/Federal Relations Committee of the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL).

ALBANY, NY – (August 1, 2008) – Senator Neil Breslin (D-Albany) is asking Senate Republicans to call off a second scheduled special session for Friday, August 8, citing high fuel costs and per diem for lawmakers in session.

This week Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Center) called Senators back to reopen dialogue on fiscal reforms. The move will piggyback a Tuesday, August 19 special "economic" session Governor David A. Paterson called for this week after declaring the state was in a recession.

Breslin (D-Albany) today reminded constituents that the state’s blood supply usually drops by about 10 to 15 percent during the summer, which can lead to dire circumstances for hospital patients in need of transfusions. Young Community Health Center will receive a $64,098 grant from the State Department of Health in support of school-based health clinics, which provide on-site health care services free of charge to students at their local school."In order for preventive health care measures to work, we must find ways to reach our children as soon as possible, since they benefit most from early intervention," Breslin said in announcing the grant.
