Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, recently presented Joseph Monteleone of West Babylon with a proclamation in honor of his continued service as a Restaurateur for 41 years and his tremendous support of the community he served. The Silver Pheasant Restaurant, which had been owned and operated by Mr. Monteleone, closed its doors after 41 years of providing excellent service to the families and various organizations of West Babylon.

Johnson Passes Bill To Avert Erosion, Restore Shoreline On Fire Island

State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, announced passage of his legislation to establish and run the Fire Island Beach Erosion Control District to promote shoreline restoration and preservation projects. The cost of the district would be borne entirely by residents of the Fire Island Beach District through a special taxing mechanism. The new district would have no financial impact on mainland homeowners.

Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, recently presented Danielle Wilson of St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School in West Islip with a legislative resolution recognizing her achievement of becoming the first Long Island student-athlete to be named to the McDonald’s 2006 All-American Team. Danielle is a senior at St. John’s, averaging about 30 points and 20 rebounds per game.

Johnson Praises Local Fire Departments Who Aided In Edgewood Fire

State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, is pictured with Chris Schiavo, Chief of the Deer Park Fire Department, aboard one of the department’s stump jumpers that was used to fight the massive brush fire that engulfed roughly 80-acres of the Edgewood State Preserve. More than 40 fire departments, including Deer Park, helped fight the fire before anyone was hurt or property was lost. The departments were recognized for their tremendous efforts at a recent ceremony that was held at the Preserve.

Johnson Bill Would End Plea Bargaining For Repeat DWI Offenders

State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, announced that the State Senate today passed legislation he is sponsoring that would limit options or plea bargaining for repeat driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The bill would prohibit plea bargaining from DWI down to DWAI or from DWAI down to a non-alcohol-related offense if the person charged had been convicted of either crime within the previous 10 years.
