Senator Johnson Commends Friends Of Edgewood Preserve For Long Island Avenue "Adopt A Spot"

State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, was recently on hand to commend and congratulate the Friends of the Edgewood Preserve for adopting a one-half mile stretch of Long Island Avenue (north side, along the Edgewood Preserve perimeter). The group adopted the spot in an attempt to reduce litter and help to beautify the stretch of road.

Johnson Passes Bill To Avert Erosion, Restore Shoreline On Fire Island

State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, announced passage of his legislation to establish and run the Fire Island Beach Erosion Control District to promote shoreline restoration and preservation projects. The cost of the district would be borne entirely by residents of the Fire Island Beach District through a special taxing mechanism. The new district would have no financial impact on mainland homeowners.

Senator Johnson Secures Funds To Help Restore Boyd's Pond

State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, recently presented a check for more than $500,000 to the Village of Babylon to contain and filter storm water and reduce sediment entering the Stowe Avenue Creek/Drainage System, dredge decades of mud and decayed organic sediments from Boyd’s Pond and restore its aquatic life and vegetation. Senator Johnson said that the funds were part of more than $9.1 million in funding Governor Pataki announced to improve Long Island water quality and habitats.
