Senate Passes Recharge NY Program

GALLIVAN SEES IT AS KEY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TOOL FOR UPSTATE NEW YORK       Senator Patrick M. Gallivan announced today that the State Senate passed legislation to create a permanent state energy program that will continue to provide affordable energy rates to businesses in the Empire State. The legislation makes permanent the “Power For Jobs” program, which was subject to annual extensions to remain in effect. The new, permanent program is called “Recharge NY”.        “Recharge NY is vital to the economic interests of Western New York.

Senate Republicans say they're committed to property tax plan

ALBANY -- State Senate Republicans said Tuesday they will not water down a plan to hold the growth in local property tax increases at 2 percent annually, though the State Legislature's top Democrat questioned the GOP's commitment to the issue.

Senate Majority Leader Dean G. Skelos, R-Rockville Centre, noted that his house already has passed Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's property tax plan and that now the Democratic-led Assembly's turn has come to adopt it.

Senate Issues Mid-Year Economic and Revenue Report

This week the Senate Majority released a mid-year economic and revenue forecast for New York State. A copy of the report can be found at the Senate website, www.nysenate.gov.

Working together this year, with Governor Cuomo, we were able to close a $10 billion budget deficit. We balenced the budget by finding efficiencies in government, identifying areas to make responsible cuts in spending, and most importantly, held the line on taxes," said Senator Gallivan. "Significant challenges remain and I look forward to returning to Albany to address next year's budget, continuing to focus on fiscal responsibility, economic development, and job creation for Western New York."
