“For too long New York has lacked a comprehensive economic development strategy that reflects our state’s true economic and regional diversity. The newly created “regional economic development councils” will bring stakeholders from across the Western New York and Finger Lakes regions together to provide local expertise, insight, and know-how to the process -- ensuring that the residents of Erie, Wyoming, Livingston and Ontario Counties will have a strong voice in the discussion about the future of our community.

I applaud each of the Council’s appointees, and look forward to working hand-in-hand with them to attract jobs, grow our economy, and improve the region’s quality of life."

Senator Gallivan Presses DOT To Complete Review and Repairs Quickly

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R,C,I – Elma) was informed by New York State Department of Transportation officials today that after undergoing inspection, the old Route 219 bridge over Cattaraugus Creek between the Town of Concord in Erie County and the Town of Ashford in Cattaraugus County has been closed (currently named S. Cascade Dr. in Concord and Miller Rd. in Ashford, respectively).

State DOT officials were taking part in an ongoing repairs project to the span when an irregularity was discovered, which they determined warrants a more thorough inspection to ensure the bridge’s safety for motorists.

NYSDOT Anticipates That Traffic Can Safely Return By Early April

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R,C,I - 59th District) announced today that the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has informed him that the repair work necessary to return vehicular traffic to the Old 219 Bridge (South Cascade – Miller Road) spanning the Cattaraugus Creek between the Towns of Concord and Ashford is moving forward on schedule.

SENATE PASSES 2012-13 BUDGET RESOLUTION

Gallivan: “Senate Plan Cuts Taxes, Reforms Medicaid, Protects Seniors and Schools.”

The New York State Senate voted to approve its 2012-13 Senate Budget resolution, continuing its focus on state spending, job creation, and structural reform to government.

The Senate budget, at just under $132.5 billion, keeps the total state spending increase below two percent, and spends less than the Executive Budget. The budget closes a $2 billion budget deficit and builds on last year’s successes in putting the state’s fiscal house in order.

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R,C,I - 59th District) announced today that the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has informed him that to the Old 219 Bridge (South Cascade – Miller Road) spanning the Cattaraugus Creek between the Towns of Concord and Ashford will re-open to traffic this Friday, March 23rd. The bridge has been closed to traffic since a faulty bearing was discovered during an inspection on January 5th.

State Passes Fiscally Responsible Budget That Respects Taxpayers

Budget Comes Early, Controls Spending and Holds The Line On Taxes

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan hailed the 2012 state budget today as lawmakers approved the spending plan ahead of the April 1st deadline, marking the second consecutive year New York State will enact an on-time budget.

“Passing a second on-time budget in as many years is indicative of the larger progress we’ve seen lately in Albany. Just as late budgets were once a symbol of dysfunction, on-time budgets are symbolic of continued progress,” the Senator said. “Even more important than passing an on-time budget, is that we passed a fiscally responsible budget that respects New York’s taxpayers and keeps the State moving forward.”
